Journey to Success Day 31 - The Challenge is ON with Amazon!
How are you doing my wonderful WAmily?
Last week I've started my OEC Level 3 training and tried to apply on some affiliate network like Clickbank and Amazon.
This is my first time so I am quite nervous especially with Amazon.
So, if you please, can you share with me some tips, reminders and your experience on those two affiliate networks?
CLICKBANK
I signed up but I got two problems.
- I CAN'T FIND PRODUCTS RELATED TO MY NICHE (robotics and coding for kids).
But I'm wondering if it is because I'm on free membership?
Or simply, I haven't learned yet how to properly search for them and needs more practice. ๐
2. PAYMENT METHOD.
Since, my country (South Korea) is not among the list of countries where Direct Deposit is available. And Paypal is also not available for affiliates. So, my only option is CHECK PAYMENT which has its own cons.
AMAZON
- I added some links on my posts.
- Their PROGRAM POLICIES are quite overwhelming.
- There is one section which quite puzzled me:
(u) You will not directly or indirectly purchase any Product(s) or take a Bounty Event action through Special Links, whether for your use or for the use of any other person or entity, and you will not permit, request or encourage any of your friends, relatives, employees, contractors, or business relations to directly or indirectly purchase any Product(s) or take a Bounty Event action through Special Links, whether for their use, your use or the use of any other person or entity. Further, you will not purchase any Product(s) through Special Links or take a Bounty Event action for resale or commercial use (of any kind) or offer any Products on your Site for resale or commercial use of any kind.
Question 1: Does this mean I cannot promote and let my family and friends (even those who are in other countries) to make any purchase through the links in my website?
Question 2: Does this mean it is not a good idea to promote my website in my FB account, which has basically my family and friends (including online friends whom I do not know personally)?
Question 3: Generally, we are going to promote our websites through social media, are our friends there be considered as "friends" who are not allowed to use our links?
Well, this part left me somewhat confused and bewildered, as to what criteria Amazon could count somebody to be our relatives and friends (especially online where everyone connected to us are our "friends").
LOTS OF RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS BUT I AM BRAVELY ACCEPTING THE 180 DAYS CHALLENGE WITH AMAZON AFFILIATE PROGRAM.
Your comment or enlightenment regarding this matter and other points which I should pay attention to with regards to Amazon will be greatly appreciated.
Other comments and suggestions on affiliate programs are also welcome.
Thank you very much!~^
Have a blessed day everyone!~^
Best Regrads,

Telling your friends and relatives living at another address I believe is an issue of conscience. I do not believe Amazon checks on addresses different from yours.
Thank you George and Judy. Don't worry I'm not going to deliberately game their system.๐
I'm just wondering how will the system know who's who. Just a little worried if they would count somebody "I don't know at all" as a relative or friend and make it as a ground for a non qualifying purchase.~^
Thanks for giving me your time and comment.
Rose
I wouldn't worry about it. My guess is Amazon will not find or associate someone as your friend or relative, but if they do there are still other website visitors who will buy. It is impossible for you to project what Amazon may or may not find. And you cannot stop your friends from going to your website to learn and buy.
I wouldn't let that stop me.
If friends or family purchase through your links Rose or you do, you don't get a commission. They seem to know. It's just another way NOT to pay you. They figure they would buy anyway.
You have to have 3 sales within the first 90 days too to stay.
OH... but is it 90 days not 180??? I might have misread / misunderstood their policy on that.
Thank you Linda!~^
They might have changed it since I joined it, they change stuff a the time. If you just read it then you are fine.
It's not a matter of getting something right or wrong. I count on you as a wonderful person!~^
We can rejoice and share our successes!
And we can also just brush off those mistakes and have a good laugh at them (later)!~^
Have a blessed day, Linda! ๐
Good questions. You should not have people living with you purchase on Amazon through your links.
I understand and accept that but I am wondering if that would include those who are living abroad.
Thank you for your input DrJec!~^

Unfortunately, Amazon has ways of checking on relatives and friends--you would think they could spend their time a lot better elsewhere--as long as they get the sale should be all that matters, IMHO.. For that reason along, I will never bother with them--add to the fact that their commissions are lousy is another reason.
Of course, they are a good platform to fulfill your OEC requirement of applying to an affiliate, and who knows? You might succeed with them, Rose!
Best success going forward!
Jeff
