First Things First, OR Am I Daft?

I have been stuck at Course 4 Lesson 4 of the Cert Course for almost 2 months because I don't want to add any more social media until I have some of my other acts together.

Why start up social media relationships that take up a lot of time, when you need to first figure out and set up your website with a blog subscription sign-up, a contact us page, an Aweber or Mailchimp account to collect email addresses of those who do read your blog, etc.

I'm not a fan of adding more social media platforms when I don't have the time to engage properly with all of them anyway.

Meanwhile I've been studying how to set up my email collection system, writing an eBook and figuring out how to design a cover and what the best way is to place ads for the eBook on my sidebar as well as on social media. I also continue writing blogs that require research and citations given my topic of heroin addiction and prevention, as well as adding good, relevant products with reviews.

I really am confused about adding more social media platforms and the blogs and more reviews we are expected to do in order to move on to the next lesson.

With each lesson I have kept hoping to learn all the other stuff I mentioned I am now doing before continuing the lessons. I've taken it all upon myself via WA member's trainings and blogs, and looking on google, Youtube and Aweber trainings on these topics that will prepare my site for when blog visitors do show up because of my social media engagement. First things first.

If anyone can enlighten me as to whether or not all these things come in later lessons, OR what the point is of having more engagement on social media when there is no way to connect via email or send your new blogs to interested parties who have bothered to come and read your blogs.

Am I missing something? Are there lessons in future Cert courses that will make all that setup easier, so I don't have to study all over the place in a disjointed manner?

Thanks, everyone.

You're not missing anything. I found that problem myself, but my issue was content. I got to a point where making the connection to the outside world would have hurt my mission in that I was introducing my website too soon - I wasn't finished. So I just delayed putting my sitemap on Google and concentrated on creating content so people would have something to do when they came to my website. I'm still at it after a year of working.

You're right, later courses will fill in the blanks, but you do have to spend some time building your website before adding the marketing portion.

Hope that helps. Keep up the good work. Ted

Thanks, Ted. Maybe we are adding sitemap too early. I think I have quite a bit of content. Perhaps I will get back to the lessons and fill in the blanks there. Thanks again, your comments really helped!
