This is what My Wife wrote about her Dad hope its a blessing

By Debbie Gordon

Day 1

Five in the morning, all is quiet and still. We could hear the sound of chirping birds singing in the trees, through the window. Light of the morning is only an hour away. Dad rouses from his sleep and looks around. The first words out of his mouth were, “There’s going to be rabbits everywhere!” He couldn’t stop talking about rabbits. “They are everywhere!” I’m going to have rabbits up my nose!”, he jokingly said.

The sun came over the horizon and began to give us the light of day. We decided to pull up the shades to enjoy the morning. The bubbling brook ran gently into a small makeshift pond that was home to a school of goldfish. Rocks bordered the edge of the pond, and the sun sparkled on the surface of the cool waters. Outside dad’s window was a beautiful court yard. Along with the cheerful fish pool we saw inviting walkways, soft lawn chairs and many shade trees filled our sights. We were at wonderment at the peaceful scenery outside of dad’s window. It was beautiful!

As Ashley sat on the sofa , gazing out the window, a small gray rabbit came hopping through the court yard. She stood up, eyes wide with amazement! “I can’t believe it!” “There is a rabbit outside!” “I’ve got to go get a picture of that! ”, she said as she slipped from dad’s room. Dad, again let us know about there being rabbits galore out there.

In a short time, Ashley returned, shaking her head in disbelief, “There were five or six rabbits out there, Hopping all over the place!” The court yard was full of hopping little gray bunnies! Dad had already been venturing out with his spiritual body, checking out the scenery!

Day 2

This morning, dad is enjoying his sleep. He slept well through the night, and continued through the morning hours. Sleep was taking over in this stage of dad’s journey. Jerry and Rick came into the room to tell dad good morning. As they gently touched his shoulder, dad stirred and opened his eyes. He recognized them immediately by the expression in his eyes, but he shortly fell back into his deep sleep.

As the family quietly visited with each other, around dads bed side, Jerry and Rick , both noticed two doves at the window. One landed on the back of a lawn chair, just a foot away, and the other fluttered against the window pane before perching next to the other dove on the chair. They visited with us for quite a few minutes before flying away.

Rick watched in reverence as the birds pruned on the chair. In a very serious, soft voice, he said, “That means something”! I totally agreed with him! God had sent us an extraordinary message! The Bible tells us how doves are a symbol of the Holy Spirit. God looked at our anguish and was sending us the comforter! Through this moment, he was letting us know that our dad was in His strong, sturdy hands. God was in control! God is our peace!

John 14:16, “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another comforter, that He may abide with you forever.”

That afternoon, Nancy took a stroll through the court yard, pondering the events of the morning. As she looked to the ground, she picked up feathers that the doves had left behind. She picked them up and tucked the treasures safely away, as a token of remembrance. God had paid us a visit!

Day 2- P.M.

A few weeks ago, I had asked dad that when he ever reached the time of going on his journey to heaven, would he please let us know if he saw Jesus, or Angels or any heavenly sights. I really wanted him to try to share this with us. I get so excited about this, and it really increases my faith! He said he would if he was able. He just didn’t know. That evening as we were with him, Nancy glanced towards dad. He was sleeping so peaceful. Suddenly a huge smile played across his lips! We were all so surprised. Tracy and Melissa and all the others began to watch dad’s expressions as he drew in each breath, and slowly exhaled. The smiles came spontaneously for the next two hours! The veil was being lifted from dad and he was seeing the beauty of the other side! He couldn’t talk, or open his tired eyes, but oh…. HE COULD SMILE! Dad was letting us know that Heaven was for real! What a treasure to remember!

Day 3- 3:30 A.M.

All was quiet and peaceful in the wee hours of the morning. Dad was sleeping comfortably, and mom, Ashley, and I were awake, each one of us, lost in our own thoughts. Ashley decided to play some music for her grandma and grandpa. She searched for all the songs about heaven that she could find. She laid the music on dad’s chest, and the three of us listened, prayed, and cried. Mom loved it. She wanted one particular song played over again. It was about the angels escorting dad to heaven. Another song was dad’s moms favorite. It was a beautiful time with dad and mom. It was very comforting. Especially for mom.

Something exceptional happened then. I felt an overwhelming love and peace fill the room. It was a sensation that wrapped around you like a soft, snuggly blanket. The feeling persisted for a long time before I finally asked mom and Ashley if they were sensing what I was feeling. Both of them knew what I was talking about and acknowledged that they were experiencing the same feelings. I truly believe that Jesus was with us in the room during those early morning hours. I will never forget that sacred time.

Later a nurse came in to check dad’s vitals. She told us that we needed to keep close watch on him because he was getting ready to finish his earthly journey.

Day 3- 7:00 A.M.

I asked mom if she was ready to have a cup of coffee. I left the room and headed to the kitchen area. No coffee was made, so I started another pot. Just as I was pushing the start button, Tracy came in and told me to hurry back to the room. Dad had made some changes. We hurried back into the room. Mom was holding dad’s hand. Dad was definitely breathing his last breaths. We stayed close to dad for the next few moments. Mom stroked his face as he took one last breath and exhaled. We knew at that moment that the angels scooped up our daddy and quietly ascended out of the room and soared away with him to his new, happy, heavenly home.

So peaceful was dad’s journey! His last three days were without suffering. He was in perfect peace. When he was alert, he was ready for his journey to end. He had been on this ride long enough, he said. God granted his wishes and began the transition. Dad went from life, to life everlasting! Have a most joyful time in Heaven, dad! We miss you so much, but we will see you again someday!
