You can keep a draft copy before publishing and if you do publish and want to you can change it back to a draft copy easily even changing the publish dates forward or backward. Importing from word is easy through the word icon so it will work properly in wordpress which is a different format. Added features such as an opt-in form can be easily inserted with the insert icon as well. Don't feel that the edit features showing on the top of your website is visible to visitors because it only shows up for you while editing. All in all there is no confusion working in wordpress that I can see so it should be a breeze for the newbie to adapt to.
