I am running a membership site but also doing lots of affiliate stuff inside of it. Just wondering how to set up the posts and pages so that most of it is view only by members A
Thats a good idea. I have never seperated a site by IP address. Will check it out.
Is that what WA does with their open pages vs the my.wealthyaffiliate.com for logged in people i wonder?
Roii, you can have great content on the public
pages to attract people and Google and have
private pages for members only.
Thanks Ken. I see wordpress has an option to only show a limited amount of a page to non-members. Would that enable google to index parts of those pages if some keywords were in that part?

It seems like a duplicate , i created it before i had the dot com domain that i used now. So If I have already transferred it over to its own domain...
My advice is to keep the SiteRubix website and use it for testing themes and plugins before you use them on your real website. I'm using my test website almost every day when I'm trying to help people with their problems. ~Marion
I was coming to answer you back I noticed that you got the answers you were looking for though if you need anything else just let me know.
If your used the SiteTransfer "Move" feature here you actually want to keep your siterubix websites as well as it redirects all of your links to your new site. So if that site was indexed, this will be good for making sure you retain all of the traffic and will lead to higher rankings.
If you didn't use the Move feature and you simply are porting over your content, you will want to delete your old site after the transfer has taken place.

Hi all, I am setting up a niche site for an existing group (i think of it as a community) that I manage. The group is a good size already so want to make sure I use proven plugi
Hi Roii, I have a membership website ( http://freeandcheapebooks.com) and I use Easy Sign Up (free plugin) for people to join (see How to Create Your List for Free and Simple WordPress Membership (another free plugin) which has provision for free and paid membership levels. As far as having 'Chat' functionality you would need to have several thousand members before that could work. i.e. you need at least 20+ members on line at any given time to have anyone in your chat-room. PM me if I can be of help. ~Marion
PS I forgot to mention another free plugin 'Easy Digital Downloads' for delivering your course material.
This will require multiple data bases, I would suggest that you study up on building databases on Mysql and php myadmin from your hosting control panel. If you try and do all of this with plugins it will make your site dysfunctional. Secondly you will need a great form builder, there are places that you can buy form builder software, from there you can generate forms, then copy and paste the code to your site. The other option is to learn the html for building forms yourself which will be a larger learning curve. I'm not too sure about the chat functionality and what that would require, but do your research and you will figure it out. Don't lie to yourself that this will be done in a short period of time, it will be a living thing growing day by day for quite some time. This is a great idea! Don't lose site of your goal!
Thanks for this. Yes, i need to be realistic about the resources this might take. I mean, just to be functional, let alone engaging enough for people to bother joining.
