It feels a little strange to be 3/4 of a century old, but it certainly is an exciting time to still be alive and I am looking forward to the next 25 years here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Farmer Humbke with his city daughter

I started the day at 7AM with a 'Gran Slam' breakfast plus hot apple crisp and ice cream at a local Denny's. My 54 year old daughter, Nadean, was treating me before she had to rush off to work. I remainded for while and drank 2 more cups of decaf, while watching it poured cats and dogs outside.

Costumed Interpretors at Fort Edmonton Park - Edmonton, Alberta

Our drivers Our Minister and one of our Metis Interpretors

By 8:30AM it had cleared to perfectly blue skies and I made my way to join the Fort Edmonton contingent of 28 costumed interpreters with a 1928 model T Ford half ton and a one ton antique Ford carrying a 3 piece brass band. The heavens opened up and blue sky prevailed for the two hour Edmonton Kondike Parade. We must of walked 3 miles, but it was well worth it to hear the cheers and see all the kids on Jasper Avenue.

At 12:30PM I went to the Senior Association of Greater Edmonton where our group of 12 sang songs of the 1890's for a packed house. Marjorie Lilley, our director & piano player of 29 years was finally retiring at age 94 and we enjoyed cake together for the last time. I think her doctor told her she just had to slow down a bit.

Marjorie Lilley - retiring at age 94 from 29 years of vounteering at SAGE

It was a rush then, but I managed to get home to take my wife for a job interview at T and T, a Chinese super market. Later We celebrated at home with Carrie, our daughter, and I spent the rest of my day working on my family history site - https://humbke.com. and the family tree. I have just got to finish the blog of my great aunt Alvina Humbke's family, the Fountains, for publishing by the end of July.

Ended the day by playing an online poker game of "Texas Hold'em", which I lost, and then an hour watching a war documentary on TV.

Tomorrow is another day where I will become Farmer Humbke of the early 1900's at the Mellon Farm, Fort Edmonton Park where I get to answer questions and engage with visitors about all the old time tractors and farm equipment we have at our farm. It feels as if I am leading the life of my boyhood once again, living in a giant playground called Fort Emonton Park!

Now I am looking forward to what the next 25 years will bring my way here at Wealthy Affiliate

So far I have learned enough skills to create websites and write illustrated blogs etc.

Hi Roger, it sounds as though you had a wonderful day celebrating your milestone achievement with family and friends. I much appreciate you sharing it with the Community here at WA. It sounds like you have been living a good and rewarding life. I can see you are young in heart and look forward to hearing about your next 45 Years. That's not a mistake, I did mean 45. I can see that you have it in you to meet such a milestone. It is a pleasure to know you. :-) Frank

Hi Frank,

You are very generous with your comments, and my mind feels compelled to plan for an existence longer than another 25 years.

The power of your words is greater than I am aware of and I will be contemplating the possible results.

Thanks so much for creating a new and improved vision.

Best regards,
Roger

Happy Birthday. It sounds like you had a great day.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Hi Karen,

Appreciate your kind wishes.

Roger

At 62 I sometimes feel old. Past my prime so to speak. I wondered if I would have enough time to make my WA dream a reality. You've given me a renewed sense of optimism. Thank you.
JoelM

I am still thinking that my prime is still to come. There are so many opportunities for entrepreneurs it becomes more challenging to focus.

Roger

Sounds like a great birthday. 75 is not OLD, you have lots of great years left. - Shirley

Your right and I now Frank (above) has got me thinking that with all the medical advances and me doing my part, I just may have another 45 years in me.

Hey Roger,
Happy Birthday Roger and may you have lots of ideas for blogs now.

Tried and True

Elaine

The ideas I got here are the best presents I received today. and are going to make a difference in the years ahead. Thanks to everyone of you.

As a school principal I could always see more possibilities for the kid sitting in front me, than he/she could. It was rare if a child had a better vision for them-self than the one I had for them.

Happy Birthday! Thanks so much for sharing your day with us. I happily read your post to the end a found myself wanting more information about Marjorie and your Farmer Humbke character.
All the best,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

George Bernard Shaw said "We don't stop PLAYING because we grow old; we grow old because we stop PLAYING". Fort Edmonton is just a 'big sand box' and play and go through life experiences once more. It is better this time around and I urge you all to volunteer one day a week as a historical costumed interpreter for a character half you age in an earlier time.

I enjoy playing so much that I am rearranging my life so I can play two days week.

I do have a feeling we may see Marjorie back at the piano in September playing "That Old Gang Of Mine" watch?v=Sdssz-v8gUw

Good afternoon Roger,

Many Felicidades from Spain on your birthday.
When I read 34 of a century I thought for a split moment, wow, here we have the oldest WA member. Luckily when I opened the post I saw it was 3/4 of a century only, still a milestone.
Happy to hear you had such a nice and interesting day!

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I am try to imagine what WA will look like 25 and 45 years from now and if some of will still be around. With the increasing speed of progress it seems that we can't imagine all the magical changes that we are in store for.

Always felt like I would hit the century mark and still hope to be here among WA friends.

With Gratitude,
Roger

Good Morning Roger,

With a little bit of luck and a healthy lifestyle that could very well happen.

All the best, Taetske

Happy Birthday...great that you are able to do the things you love with people that you love.
Debbie

So many wonderful relationships, love and learning to be done!

You're certainly keeping yourself busy :)

Keeps me fit with no time to worry about getting old.

I really admire your spirit...well done :)

Those grand slams will help you get there Roger!

I am not so sure Mike - I had 6 slices of bacon and the hot apple crisp with ice cream are not exactly what the doctor ordered, but they sure were worth the once in 75 years experience.
