My Progress So Far and Impression of WA.

I have been on the Internet or World Wide Web since I stepped out of undergrad school in December of 1991. I went to work at John Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. The Lab is located near the NSA in Maryland where I grew up. I had taken two UNIX courses at college. I found UNIX easier than programming. I never have liked programming since starting college in 1980. I've seen the evolution of computers from large Main Frames to "Pizza Box" sized servers. I have an extensive history with IT and some say I am an Internet Pioneer. I'm not huge on that label. I basically went to work in IT to have a better life, eat, roof over head etc. I'm more into music, comic books etc than I am working per se. I've been building websites since 1998. At that time I met some extremely brilliant and talented engineers at Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Fl. My first web businesses were just me and a tech that worked at Lockheed that played around with web creation as a hobby. His name was Ron. My part in this was I would find a product or idea and go over this with Ron. I would design the website but mainly Ron did the technical work. I can do HTML and now understand that HTML5 is the standard for the WWW. I have the books here and have played around with it and studied it on Microsoft's Academy as I am also a Microsoft Certified Trainer.

I first realized the power of the Web in 1995. I was at the Maryland Shore one weekend and realized almost everything I had planned I did on the Web. I was amazed and knew that the WWW was going to light the world on fire. I started my first web businesses with this knowledge. Two of my websites ranked number 1 on the old Webcrawler which was the major search engine at the time. One of my websites http://www.missbikeweek.com created in 1997 for the Daytona Bike Weeks is still alive and well though I have little time to work on it. I tried many ways to make money on the WWW. My first major hit was mrvideos dot com a precursor to YouTube (I believe the inspiration for YouTube actually). We sold collectors music videos. I sold to MTV, MSNBC, and VH1 to name a few. The site ranked no. 1 on AOL search for any keyword that had rock, videos, and more on it. This was early E-Commerce. There was no PayPal but an online credit card merchant account was available at the time. I did fairly well.

My main interest in Wealthy Affiliates is what I call "passive income". Over the Thanksgiving holidays I worked with an old computer buddy to convert an HP Touchpad to an Android operating system. We finally got it with the help of a 19 year old cell phone tech. I spoke to the "Doktor" as he is known to his friends about finding at least $1500 a month passive income. That is income derived from affiliate marketing. I've attempted this before and have been a miserable failure at it. I have no idea how people become affiliate millionaires but there are such individuals. I tried to monetize missbikeweek.com with Google Adsense and Click Bank. I was lucky if Google Adsense paid me $100 a year and Click Bank NOTHING! I realized I was not doing this correctly. I came across Wealthy Affiliates by chance. I Googled "How to Make Legit Money Online" I came across Kyle's critique of various websites and his recommendation of Wealthy Affiliates. It is NOT a Scam by any means whatsoever and some of the best training I have ever received in building Websites. I have had limited success on my own with Word Press. I find it more difficult than what meets the eye and probably one of the biggest challenges here will be making Word Press build your website and work the way you want it to. I feel confident that I am learning a lot here. I can only hope to learn more. I also create blogs on Blogger but haven't had much time to work them. I hope to figure out how to monetize these as well via Wealthy Affiliates.

While I feel that it is good to set your goals high trust me from experience affiliate marketing is a science. I honestly believe my goal of $1500 a month is extremely realistic but also I know first hand the work just to make this much money will be extensive. There is so much more to this than slapping up a website and sitting back watching the checks roll in. It simply doesn't happen that way. I would be thrilled if I hit my goal of $1500 in 6 months. I doubt I will. I've been in this game for 18 years. If I hit $750 in 6 months I will be insanely thrilled.Trust me this is a lot of affiliate money.

What I hope to do is discover the key concepts that will allow me to eventually build an affiliate empire and make huge money but am realistic in the fact it will be hard work and long hours put in to achieve this. For now I am financing my time here by being a Top Rated PowerSeller on Ebay. I deal in vintage items. Rock and Roll, Comic Books, Baseball cards and ticket stubs. YES! Ticket stubs can be worth a lot of money. I've made close to $500 in the last 6 months in ticket stubs on Ebay. You never know where a niche may be. Just keep trying. Believe in yourself and trust me WA is doing a great job or I'd have been onto the next thing just as quick as a mouse click - C YA DPR
