I now come to realise this is not a short term process. I am really enjoying the huge learning curve for me anyway. The way WA helps you through is a major reason for me hanging in there. However my goalposts have shifted somewhat, if I can get my website ranked in Google within 6 months I will deem that to be a success. if I can start earning an income within 12 months, no matter what, that will also be a huge success.

This is a great way to look at it, and I agree, it will take time. It still takes a lot of work, but only we can feel that we are doing something for the future, while others ask, why aren't you working?
