How to Manage Affiliate Links Smarter (And Avoid Amazon’s 180-Day Rule Headache)

In the live chat the other day, someone brought up Amazon's 180-day rule. If you don’t make a sale in that time, you have to reapply, and your affiliate links change.
I’d come across this before, and asked in the relevant training class about it because I was going to use the regional Amazon, not .com. I learned, it’s better to focus on Amazon[.]com, not the regional domains. Once approved, you can use the OneLink tool. Until then, use the .com for Amazon Associates.
But what if you’ve scattered links all over your site? Updating them all would be a nightmare. I realized a better way: keep your money links in one place.
How I Learned This
I asked about roundup posts and got a link to a class on writing them. (Thanks Jay @magistudios). Watching it clicked for me. I even left a comment:
“What I love most about this approach is that it allows me to maintain a central post for money links, strengthening internal linking and likely improving conversions. Instead of directing traffic from informational blog posts straight to a product page, I can funnel it through these roundup posts, hopefully creating a more efficient user journey.”

Stronger Internal Links & Higher Sales Potential
Instead of sending visitors straight to Amazon, send them to a central post. This keeps them on your site longer and helps them make better buying decisions once they get to Amazon (or any store page).
Less Work Updating Links
If you don’t meet Amazon’s criteria in 180 days, your links stop working. Fixing them across your entire site is a hassle. Keeping them in one place makes updates quick and easy.
By "one place" I don't mean a single resources page. I mean, easy to find. Round up posts with the word "best" or "top", you can quickly search in WordPress and see the posts that will have affiliate links.
A Better User Experience
Too many affiliate links look spammy. A single well-organized post feels more helpful. Readers trust it more. They’re more likely to click and buy.
How to Do It
- Create roundup posts with related products in one spot.
- Link to those posts from your regular content instead of linking straight to Amazon.
- Keep money pages organized so you can update links quickly.
- Make navigation easy so visitors can find what they need fast.
This method saves time, strengthens SEO (by increasing internal links), and improves conversions. A well-informed visitor clicking a product link is more likely to buy than just browse. That’s why e-commerce platforms like Shopify emphasize the power of landing pages in boosting conversions.
What’s your approach to affiliate link management? Do you use roundup posts, and if so, how many products do you include?
