10,000 Squat challenge in 30 days
About 2 weeks ago, I found this from a Google+ connection. Her name is Neila Rey. Awesome trainer. Always putting forth some great advice, workouts, challenges, etc. When I saw this, I wanted to try it. I was already doing a Cory Gregory Squat Challenge. Example: Everyday for April I Barbell squat, plus hit other muscles. So on a monday it's Squats which the routine looks like this: Squats- 1 x 10, 1 x 10, 1 x 5, 1 x 5, 1 x 3, 1 x 3, 1 x 3, 1 x 1, 1 x 1, 1 x 1. Chest-Bench Press 1 x 30 (warm up), 1 x 12, 1 x 10, 1 x 8, 1 x 6. Tri-set (meaning I do 3 exercises in a row without resting) Incline Dumbbell Press, 4 x 12, Pushups 4 x 20, Dumbbells Flat Bench Flyes 4 x 20, Glute ham Raise 1 x 15, Bodyweight walking lunge-30m-60m. This s day 1! :-) Next day is squats and pulling exercises, day after that arms, and so forth.
This routine prepared me for the 10,000 Squat Challenge. I always had an iffy right knee when I got stationed in Germany. Too many road marches when I was at Ft. Campbell I guess :-). Once I got my knee strong enough, I made sure to work on proper form. Since I have done that, my knee has been fine. The 10,000 squat challenge is all bodyweight
, and can be done throughout the day. I wanted to really push myself, and to push others. Get them out of their comfort zones, and my friends have responded. Even the ones with bad knees. Proper form, half squats, braces, etc and they are doing it. Of course I made sure for those who do have bad knees to consult your doctor before attempting this. The last day is going to be tough, for everyone! :-) You can still join! :-) https://www.facebook.com/events/1672492652972428/

It is. Lot of my friends think I am nuts for doing this, but I am a Personal Trainer, and I like challenging myself now and then. Almost 50 yrs old, and testing my limitations. :-)
