TRAFFIC - The determinant of speed of business growth
A lot has been said about growing an online business, especially what is the most important factor. Some say content is king, others say having a good offer/product is supreme, while there are those that say leads are vital. The truth is no matter how good your content or product is, you need a constant flow of people looking at "your stuff"; you need leads. Leads come from traffic. Believe it or not, traffic is the single most important factor in a business success overtime. Also important is that traffic benefits those who are prepared for it. I will get to this later.
The Three Pillars of Good Traffic
1. Fast
You must be able to generate a heavy flow of "eyes" to your offer in a short period of time. This is important especially when you are testing your offers/products/websites to see what works best. it would be painful if you had to wait an entire year to get enough feedback to be able to make tweaks. Another reason why you want fast traffic is because it enhances the probability to make money quickly. This will build confidence and belief when you get results earlier rather than later. Plus it will build your momentum. As it is often said, "encouragement sweetens labour"
2. Consistency
A steady flow of visitors to your website/blog, a steady number of monthly optins through your email capture page, or a steady number of viewers on your Youtube channel, increases your chance of steady conversion rates. Whatever traffic source you are relying on, if it cannot deliver quality traffic consistently then it doesn't worth your time.
3. Scalability
This is absolutely important for those who want to grow their businesses. Once you have tested your offer and made your necessary adjustments, you want to send a lot more traffic to your product. It is imperative that your traffic source is able to deliver an unlimited amount of traffic. As much as you want.
Conclusion
Whenever you are looking at a traffic source, before you commit your time, effort, money or resources, analyse it against the three pillars; it should be fast, consistent and scalable. Also before you run out and get traffic, prepare your marketing campaigns first. have your product ready, have a way to present the offer to the visitors, and a system to capture contact information and disburse follow up information. The fortune is in the follow up.
So what is the best traffic source?
