Queen Elizabeth II, A Tribute
This afternoon, Thursday 8th September, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland. It is with a great deal of sadness that I dedicate this very brief tribute to her.
Queen Elizabeth was an outstanding stateswoman, dignified, reserved and respected around the world. For a lesson on how to handle oneself in any sort of public role I believe she makes an ideal role model.
She became Queen of Britain just over 70 years ago in 1952. She has been the longest-serving monarch in British history and has seen 15 prime ministers, the first of whom was Winston Churchill.
The Queen was one of the people I truly admired, she carried out her duty with an abundance of dignity and grace. She always kept her composure, especially when things around her weren't going too well.
Her Majesty was head of the British armed forces and during my time in the Army, I was immensely proud to have served her.
Queen Elizabeth was probably the most famous woman on the planet and will be greatly missed. The news will speed around the globe now, there will probably be a public holiday in the UK for her funeral and I, for one, will remember Queen Elizabeth II with affection and admiration.
Charles has now become King Charles III and will lead the Royal Family in mourning. My thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with the entire Royal Family.
Rest In Peace Your Majesty
Respectfully
Rick

Thanks Jeff. She will be missed by many people and until recently she looked sprightly for a lady in her 90s.
Since Phillip died last year she has made noticeably fewer public appearances, the most notable being her absence at last year's remembrance parade. Remembering the fallen veterans was an event which was particularly close to her heart.
Phillip had been with her for so long, Rick, so I could certainly see that taking its toll! Still, I would have loved for her to have seen 100! The world has lost a great icon and leader, my friend!

Thank you for writing this. I didn’t know.
I’m Canadian and I was raised with her very youthful portraits on every school room wall. She is on the vast majority of our coins and bills. She’s always been out there around us for all of our lives.
It’s a hard hit to find out that she’s gone. I’m in tears. Thank you for the lovely tribute.

Thanks for your comments and kind words Darlene.
As you say, she has always been there. I hadn't even thought about the coins, notes and stamps and she's on all of ours.
I wonder how long it will be before currency appears with Charles on.
