Do Words Still Dominate?

In this world of internet marketing we see videos taking more and more of the viewer's time. Google, who purchase YouTube, sees YouTube searches approaching Google's. And it's predicted that YouTube will be the place to search over Google. So, you might be asking yourself, is writing emails still worth it? Should there still be newsletters?

In a recent survey Business to Business meetings, 89% still use content in their marketing. That is a huge percent. And Google is still looking for content in their website rankings.

Words have an effect on people and powerful words have more of an effect. But that doesn't mean your emails have to be all words. As you know you should have mixed media in your newsletter. You can take advantage of the written word as well as the power of video. You can easily have a link to a video in your newsletter.

Some people prefer to read, others prefer to see a video. Some people's learning strategy is better reading while others it's it audio or video. Everything has its place, and that includes pictures. So, depending on what your subject is depends on what you put in your emails or on your website.

If you are making a good video, you have a script. What is a script? - words! What you wrote can be make into a video and vise versa.

Media baron Rupert Murdoch rightly said, “Content is not just king, but it is the emperor of all things electronic.”

Yes, words still do dominate and there will always be a place for them in this electronic age.

Great Headlines

You have to have great headlines in order to get more people to read your article. Then, the first paragraph is important, too, do you can draw them in. Of course, you should offer benefit (as opposed to feature) if you are writing about a service or product. The benefit is the “what's in it for me?” solution.

Now, if you have a video, you can put a link to it, or you can embed it on your website. This can argument the written word.

If you say you can't write well, you can learn and get a lot of this information for free. Just Google the keywords and see what comes up. You can also do a search on YouTube. For example, search for the words: How to write great headlines. In fact, you can find some good books on writing and sales that are in the public domain.

I do not think words will go away. I would rather read than watch, but that is just me.

Hi,
I am happy to hear that words still dominate. I know that i prefer to read, but i am sure for a generation that prefers visuals, reading would be nothing more than a chore. I believe that reading is still the best way to convey important information and that video simply augment information. The disadvantage of video only is that you only get the perspective of the person making the video. With words, you are free to interpret as you choose and in doing so you actually gain an additional perspective besides just the video.
