Goals

• phrase in the positive

Your brain pictures things that happen or exist not negative images, it can see a healthy person with good teeth clean hands rather than a non-smoker

• specify the present situation

can see how you are moving towards your goal where you know where you start from, also what is the distance from where you are now to your goal, set achievable goals that stretch not break you

• specify your outcome,

if you don’t specify your goal how will you know what to aim for or know when you get there, visualize clearly what you feel and picture yourself after achieving the goal

• -specify evidence

procedure
– how will I know that I have achieved my goal, what are the milestones that show that I am travelling on the journey to achieving the goal
-must be congruent with entire system
– what will achieving this outcome do for me, there should be nothing that doesn’t feel right

• is goal appropriately contexualised

– does the goal make sense in your context, when why and with whome do you want to achieve this goal

• Resources

– confidence, I need confidence to achieve my goal, I will get confident when I acheive my goal working, time and money can be an excuse for failure,act as if you had all the resources already

• Ecology

what are consequences on others on your path of following your goal
