Customer Purchase Lifecycle in Retail
Currently, I work as a salesman at a bicycle retailer. I see people go through this cycle all the time! For instance, right now, winter time, is when everyone is in the Research phase of the purchasing cycle; we really don't make many transactions, I just help people gain the knowledge they need to make a decision.
Coincidentally, late fall is when all the new bike and products come out giving people plenty of time to cogitate on their spring and summer purchases.
People will make their decision after visiting the store, talking to me, then doing their own research online. Eventually, often a motivating factor like a bright, sunshiny day will spur them into action to make their purchase.
