“A few people get to discover their passion in life. If you discover your passion then never ever let it go!”-Avijeet Das

I've been on my WA journey for a little over 4 months now. I've discovered that I love to write and work from home. The feeling of publishing a post and getting feedback or realizing that people are finding my post in cyberspace is exhilarating.

I still have a long way to go to make my dreams a reality, but I'm not giving up.

Important Lessons I've Learned Along the Way

Focus on one thing at a time and give it your all.

I have the tendency to get excited whenever I get a new idea. Then, I try to implement it while I'm still working on older projects. Soon, I feel overwhelmed and I haven't made much progress on any of my good ideas.

Now, I'm focusing on one website and I'm going to give it my all. My website is called learn2gether and is about learning at home with your children. We are all learning together here at WA, too. That's what it's all about.

It takes baby steps to accomplish big goals.

Each night, I write down 1-2 goals for the next day. As I complete these small goals, I take time to appreciate the feeling of success. A series of baby steps will take you forward. If you try to do too much at once, you'll end up not finishing the journey. Gratitude will keep you going. Measure progress from your starting point.

Don't suffer in silence. Reach out for help

I'll admit that I often try to figure things out on my own and waste hours of precious time (especially with the technical aspects of blogging). I'm trying to learn to reach out and ask for help.

Save yourself time and frustration by asking questions. This is something I need to work on. I'm going to start reaching out to the WA community more because there are some wonderful, supportive members here.

    Give Back

I know there are others struggling with the same issues I am. If I'm able to help, I will. A few people here have reached out in private notes and pointed out ways to improve my posts that I didn't even consider. I hope to do the same for others in the community.

    Consistency is Key

Finally, it is important to develop a writing/posting habit. Google seems to favor fresh, regular content. The best way to deliver is to carve out a time each day to post or edit a post. I'm trying to build a regular writing habit each morning before my children get up. It's tough, but I know it's necessary if I want to move forward.

I hope the lessons I've learned so far help some of you as well. Some days it may feel like you're running up a snowy hill. When it does, just imagine how exhilarating you'll feel when you're looking out from the summit.
