Everyone Should Add a Favicon

Looking through a few sites using the site feedback function, I have noticed that many people do not have a favicon set up for their site.

What is a favicon you ask? It's that little icon that shows up in the side of the browser tab your site is displaying in.

If you do not set-up a favicon it displays a default icon which is just a page with a corner folded over. This default icon is not very memorable and some may not view the website as professional if they see the default icon.

Adding a favicon is very easy to do. In your word press backend, go to Appearance => Customize => Site Identity. You can then add the image where it says site icon.

Now, this may seem like such a minor thing, but the minor things can sometimes make or break us. If someone has multiple tabs open in their browser (I'm constantly guilty of this) that icon can help them quickly identify which tab has your site on it when they go back to look at it.

We spend so much time setting up our sites to make them look good and then even more time on the content. So why shouldn't we take that couple of minutes to add a favicon to our site, providing that nice little added polish?
