As I sit here again in the surgery waiting room I am reminded why I made this career move. It is difficult for me not to be a boss, not to be part of a company, not to have a boss. But I am able to be here, able to be the one my daughter sees by her side when she needs someone. She is one tough young woman, one that I admire and love with all my heart. She inspires me to succeed with each doctors visit, each surgery that hopefully brings her closer to home and also being a mom to her little three year old boy.

I started watching "The Island" lately. Just to be able to have my mind numb and not think of everything that could go wrong. There was one man on the island that quit the show to go be with his family. In the desperate journey to survive he realized his most important role in life was not for him to be famous or survive another challenge but just be there for his wife and kids. He thought he was doing that until lack of water, food and other essentials cleared his mind to the realization he was just going through the motions. His main thought was that he did not read bed time stories to his boy. How much time does that really take to really be present in your loved ones lives?

My career choice I have always made the excuse I am doing all this for my family. But after some soul searching I realized I am not, I am doing it for me. I loved the fast pace, the travel, everyone looking up to me and wanting my job. I worked long hours and my priorities were me first then family.

Now facing the possibility of having to raise a child again and a high stress job, I have come to my senses. It is important for me to be there, to be present in my family's lives. This is what Wealthy Affiliate means to me. The ability to work anywhere, anytime and be present when I need to be.

So here I am in the Surgery waiting room. Just being here, waiting, and praying.
