What's with the new ranking tab??

I don't know about the rest of you...but I'm pretty busy! What with G+, Facebook, Bubblews, Pinterest etc....My engaging time on WA tends to suffer sometimes! Now with the new "Top ###" tab, it makes me feel pressured to keep my WA appearances fresh.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I wish there didn't have to be such an emphasis on it. The ambassadorship status is impressive...and is worthy of a trumpet salute, but I REALLY don't think we need to instantly know who's in the top 50 or the top 200. Those who take a dip, for reasons beyond their control, shouldn't need to feel that their "class" has been downgraded. I know that's not the intent, but why else would it be 'advertised' as it is?

My rank slipped from mid 30's, but I only participate here when I have the time, and I absolutely do not worry about my ranking. It doesn't improve my business, or website ranking.
That being said, it can be fun to exchange good tips and thoughts with my WA friends

it is too much fun! LOL I do too much of it. But I enjoy everyone here so much...

Thanks for your input Gordi :-)

My ranking gets higher when I "socialize" instead of working! The bonus to me is that I feel that I'm doing SOMETHING and not just wasting time. But that might be a pleasant "white lie." :)

All valid concerns. I have linked to an article within WA that explains more about the Ambassador program and why it matters. My biggest concern with it was that it seemed like a pointless endeavor. It would only incentivize me if there was some kind of tangible result, or reward in return. I didn't think there was that kind of incentive, but it turns out that I was wrong. If I am reading this article correctly, they actually intend to reward those who help others as an incentive. I think that is pretty cool.

Well yes, the ambassador program is the part that makes sense. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that being an ambassador and just having good rankings isn't connected?

My thought is - it is what it is - honestly if my rank drops or goes up - it has no bearing on my level of engagement.

I engage and help as much as I can because I want to and I have the time in most cases and really don't worry about my ranking.

The most important thing is the training and information that's available here.

That's what's going to help build your business to where you want it to be - not your's or my the rank within the WA.

That's it exactly. So then why even bother making it a focal point? If I'm a new member, asking questions, I'm not looking specifically to get a response from someone in the top 100. As a newbie I'm assuming anyone who's been with WA for a little while can assist with something basic. So....it's just the fact of "trumpeting" our social rank that makes me wonder if we're meant to feel challenged by it, or intimidated. And if it's no big deal.....then why do it?

Some people are motivated by rankings and some aren't. If it helps some and the rest don't care then in the long run does it really matter?

I guess it only becomes a big deal is that's what someone chooses to focus on - personally I choose not to.

Right Christina. That's what I'm assuming.

Honestly, I don't even pay attention to the tab. I wouldn't worry about it too much. We can't always spend all of our time engaging on WA. I promise you, mine will change drastically once I get myself in gear.

Makes sense.
