So after a few days of gathering ideas and writing an initial blog post for what was set to become a pro wrestling based website to start out here at WA, I've come to a point where I've decided to change directions.

While I've been a wrestling fan for well over half of my life & have been wrestling on the independent circuit for over six years, I would feel more confident writing about a subject that I've actually been getting paid a small bit to write about over the last year: fantasy sports. I feel that it would be a lot easier to find a niche that can help people in the fantasy sports field than the pro wrestling field. I know it can be done in the pro wrestling field, but I need more than a week before being comfortable enough with a concept to make that idea a reality.

As a fantasy football writer primarily, I think now is as good a time as any to begin a website that will cater to people looking for fantasy football assistance of some sort. The NFL Draft has just concluded and some people are starting to get back into the fantasy football mindset. In my years of researching, writing, and scouring the internet for any sources that can help me improve my game, I’ve never come across a website that focused primarily on fantasy football draft strategies. I’ve read plenty of pieces on other websites talking about different strategies, but have never found a site devoted primarily to the idea of testing out different strategies in mock and live drafts. That’s kind of where the idea of creating a website catering primarily to draft strategies for multiple fantasy sports comes from.

And while I can highlight different strategies for seasonal football leagues throughout the summer, starting a website like this also gives me the option of writing about daily fantasy sports. Which is where I think the biggest potential profit is going to come from in the fantasy sports niche. DFS is becoming one of the most popular forms of fantasy sports out there today. And while many articles will tell you what players are good value selections, I haven’t come across a platform that shows you examples of what kinds of lineups you can create around certain players that these pieces highlight. You’re not drafting live against other competitors in DFS like you are for seasonal leagues, but you’re still drafting a team to fit under a salary cap. There are many ways to build successful DFS teams. Since I’m fairly new to DFS myself, I figure it would be good to test out different strategies for different sports while offering readers the chance to sign up for websites like FanDuel and Draftkings through my website. Which I’m suspecting would earn me a decent amount in the realm of commission (knocks on wood).

Anyway, that’s kind of where my head is at right now. Just celebrated a birthday yesterday so I’m not promising myself a launch of the website before the weekend is over. In the same token, I’m five days into the 10-day goal I set for myself of becoming a premium member (done) with a niche (just about there), a website (not done yet), and some content already published for said site (thought I had this taken care of before deciding to change directions).

If I’ve learned anything about WA from my short time here, it’s that you would have to try really, really hard to fail with all the support provided here. From industry experts to self-made millionaires, to people who simply want to wish you well, there seems to be way too good a support system for anyone to be able to fail here. My journey is taking an early detour but I plan to stay the course and hopefully make this idea a reality sooner than later. And then we go from there.
