Are You Ready For Christmas?
Most marketers think that they have plenty of time in the summer to get content ranking for Christmas, but you really don’t.
This is especially true if you’re starting a new site. You see, if you’re planning to create a site in physical goods, you are most likely going to see a massive surge of traffic over the Christmas season. Since new sites must do the “Google dance,” and often find themselves in the “sandbox” for a little while, it’s important that you plan and execute for those events.
By allowing yourself 3 months to get your rankings improved, you can set yourself up for a much better chance of having success over the holiday season in 2017. This means that if you want content ranking on Black Friday this year, which is November 24th, then you need to have your content online and ready to go by August 24th.
That’s not that far away. So, what I like to do is go ahead and plan all the content that I want to be ranking for Christmas at the end of June, begin writing it in July, and have everything published and ready to rock in August.
Then, as the holiday season really gets into swing, start really promoting yourself on social media. I typically start this about 3 days before Thanksgiving and don’t stop until December 21st. So far, this strategy has never let me down, and I see one heck of a surge in traffic and sales the 4-6 weeks leading up to Christmas.
It’s certainly a good reason to start thinking about Christmas in June and July, isn’t it?
