Branding: The Similarities Between Private Labeling and Internet Marketing

December 2015 was good for me on eBay, Being that I was starting from scratch I made $60 on ebay but because of shipping and HANDLING I was able to add an extra $100 to my total sales. I was selling stocking stuffers for $1. But whereas one person would be selling one for a dollar I was selling 3 for a $1.

Let me point out that I didn't charge extra for handling to screw the consumer I increased my handling charges because I'm Canadian and in many instances it costs Canadians more to ship something in Canada than it does for Americans to ship something to Canada from America. Which makes it hard for us to compete for consumers in our own country.

So whenever I'm doing private labeling, to stand out I have to be creative with my pricing.

Anyway...

Main reason I like private labeling is because right now there's around 120+ different people with my label in their homes, cars or even on the streets. Where as if I only sold some companies item just to make money I wouldn't have no way to have any contact with my customers. On the package of my private label it has my company name and my companies website, which I'm hoping will lead to more sales in the future.

Private labeling is a lot like building an affiliate website. The Private Label is your BRAND (example: Rambo's widgets) and the merchant/manufacturer is your publisher.

So if you're promoting wealthy affiliate as an example your website is your brand and wealthy affiliate is your publisher.

Why you should build your brand/website is because if wealthy affiliate goes down(I hope they never do), change or cancel their affiliate program, don't pay their affiliates(which they always do) you can take your brand and work with another publisher/manufacturer and your future customers won't even know or care because they trust YOU and your Brand!

Even though I don't think this is fair it is the world we live in... Currently Canada is losing a lot of jobs to China, but brands aren't getting hurt by outsourcing. The reason for this is because people typically trust their BRANDS.

Building a brand is important, Wealthy Affiliate is trusted brand, that people and companies want to work with. When you build your website(s) or start your businesses always remember to focus on your brand first. Don't get into internet or affiliate marketing just to make others rich, get into it to build your brand and enrich yourself.

There are negative sides to brand building but you learn a lot more about people and business when you build a brand for yourself, plus once you learn how to do it once the 2nd and 3rd times become easier and easier. It's also easier to sell a brand/website that gets traffic, whereas it's extremely hard to sell a domain name that's forwarded to your affiliate link.

There are negatives to brand building and you may even want to incorporate to protect your personal assets, but branding is something I think all wealthy affiliates should consider adding to their business.

WOW Rambo, very interesting blog. I'm Canadian too and have recently started selling on Ebay, and yes it's hard to compete when shipping charges are so much cheaper in other countries. Cheers, Sylvie :)

Thanks for your comment Sylvie:)
