Going round in circles!
My Wordpress Days
I think my Wordpress days are over. I have learned the basics and can get around it comfortably. It's been such an interesting ride as the more I learn about WP, the more clarity I got but it took so much of my time! I got sick at one point, and left it for a few days. But I think I have gathered the basics of WP enough now to know what I need to do to create the pages, posts, installed the plugins etc. Though in the beginning, I wanted to just pay a Fiver professional to set up for me..haha. So it's good to know I have reached this point.
Wordpress theme - stick to one preferably
Anyhow, I think I have sacrificed much of my time to learn about Wordpress and to work with two WP themes. However, I would recommend to people to best stick to just ONE theme.
And then, to become very good at that theme. Each WP theme will have its own pecularities. I discovered, much to my chagrin, not to care so much about the theme setup, plugins and the sorts, but to focus highly on content building. But I think this whole thing about building your website is a process. You need to go through the pain.
If not for being part of Wealthy Affiliate, I would not have dared to venture into the world of WordPress to do the development of my own website! So this valuable lesson from being part of WA is priceless.
Finding your true voice
To be honest, since the beginning of joining WA in September last year, I had been going in circles to find my true interest into what I wanted to really blog about. Something that I am truly interested in. I have scrapped entire month of work, to only start with a fresh start. I am not afraid to destroy and create, destroy and create. Yeah.
It is really not easy to find my true voice. I think most people also struggle with this.
But I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for all the 3 sites that I have conjured! Yes, three.
But I know in reality that I have only so much time to spend on one website first. And all of them are so interesting to work on. But the greedy side of me is saying, you can work on two at the same time! And the logical part of me is saying, hello, you only have so much time in your hand.
Finding your authentic self is so important to get your creative juices flowing
I am at a happy place now that after going round and round in circles for two months, I have found one niche that is aligned to my authentic self!
A niche that is sustainable that will take me through at least 3 to 5 years ahead. And longer if want to! I know that some people can just take any niche to talk about and build their WA business, but I find that really hard to do. But I also think that most people can only blog on something that is meaningful to them. I have chosen mine after many sleepless nights and now I am quite content.
The fear of nothing to show on the 6th month mark with WA
Honestly I am also afraid if I have nothing to show on my 6th month of being with WA. So, this being my 5th month, I'd better hurry. I put a goal to have one website with monetization link ready by end mid of Feb at the very least.
Wish my luck folks.
Much love,
Rah
