Another Look
Introduction
Good Aftrnoon to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.
It has ben one of those funny weeks, things have either not been done, not done properly or left after starting.
This last sentance may seem both strange and almost contadictory, it probably is!!
The Last Few Days.
A bit of everything is one way of discussing what I have managed to do, and not do this week.
In parts of the garden it is obvious where I have been, the weather has both helped and hindered my efforts, it took me until almost collecting time for the compost bins to be filled!
Having said that I have already made a start on the bins for the next collection, this has made a couple of areas look almost really good, and it has given me more ideas to improve the general look of the site. Especially as I want to plant some of my perennials when I return from my next holiday, they could go in now, but if it is very dry I could end up losing them all, so think it is wiser to leave them in trays that can have a decent level of water in them.
Did have some trailing pansies arrive this week, will plant them when I get back.
Regarding the business, not quite done what I wanted, but it has not been totally ignored either.
Been able to look at some of the projects which I have started, in a couple of cases have actually started some new content, but I do have a lot of work to do, in many cases it is a question of the energy to do the task in hand, it is I am afraid been another one of those cannot be bothered weeks on some days.
I did go to my school friends funeral, another school pal was there, the strange thing was that the three of us all ran for the school cross country team. David said that he was sorry to see me on a stick, not as sorry as I was to see him in a wheel chair. Yvonne's cousin was there she was at the funeral of Yvonne, but did not like to push herself forward to say who she was. However whe will pay me a visit to work on the family tree, I gave her what I had sometime ago.
This morning I attended the Battle of Britan service organised by the local Air Training Corps, it was a very nice service, the cadets very smart as usual.
Delighted to say that I go on holiday a week today, I certainly need it, as I have had a couple of blips this week, last night whilst I was watching the Last night of the Proms, I had a couple of teary moments but when they played "Auld Lang Syne" I totally lost it, just sbbed and sbbed, as I realised that Yvonne and I would never agian share a New Year.
Pleased to say that it did me a lot of good, relieving a lot of tension, as I have had one of those weeks.
The washing machine is causing me great grief, all caused by the suppliers, but I will deal with that when I can!! I do not mind washing by hand, as long as I do not let it build up too much.
The Next Few Days
I do not really have a lot of spare days this week, weather permitting I have four days of cricket, then Friday I will need to prepare for my holiday, as Friday I am out all day football then a dining in night at the ATC, more dressing up!, having said that I do enjoy wearing my dinner jacket, think that it ensures that all the men dress smartly, OK call me old fashioned.
Do have ironing to do as well as packing, also some washing, but I do not care, I am really looking forward to my break, just hope that the weather is kind to me in Torquay.
Which makes me realise that the blog could be done on Thursday, then it will be guess work, as my email is still not good.
If time permits will try to do some more gardening, also a look at the websites.
Conclusion
I have known worst weeks, I now just let things happen and no longer worry about what should be done.
Be happy, healthy and wealthy.
Please do take care.
God Bless.
Stuart

Thank you for sharing, Stuart
Reading all that you have experienced this week makes me realize I am not alone with so much on my plate, we must focus on what we do accomplish and not beat ourselves up for what has not been done
Stay positive
Jeff
Hello Stuart. It sounds like your garden is coming along well. I know what you mean about the weather both helping and hindering. I have had to time my dog walks in the intermittent sunny periods between the downpours - as well as rescue washing on the line occasionally while at one occasion - we set out for a garden centre during a sunny period and while we were there, a sudden downpour drenched our washing. But the grass is green again everywhere and the plants are grateful for the water. And we are glad we don't need to do any more watering!
I was surprised to read about you having four days of cricket in the coming week. There was no cricket this weekend on our village cricket field and I assumed it had all finished now that the schools have gone back and the weather has turned wet and cold.
It's great that you have your holiday to look forward to.
Have a good week.
Isabella
Thanks Isabella,
It is the last game of the season, though if they have had the rain that we have had here, we will be lucky to get one days play in!!
I hang washing out, forget it is there until it rains!
Hope that you also have a great week.
Stuart

Hey VH
You certainly do get a lot done in a week. Maybe it's not on the computer but you've been out and about quite a bit and even in the garden!!!! That's good though. Stay active. It will keep you young.
I know there must be those moments that will trigger memories of Yvonne for you. That's to be expected. It's all really still fresh. I'm sure in time, it will get better but memories will always pop up I'm afraid. I watch my friends and something will trigger them and it's been many years since their spouse has passed. It's ok to cry and let it out.
You need to get that washer fixed. I can't imagine doing all my laundry by hand, however, I know they did WAY back in "the day". My mother had one of those ringer machines that you had to feed the clothes through. Her hand got caught more than once. I feel blessed!!!!
I'm sure you will have a GREAT time on your holiday even if the weather doesn't fully cooperate. It's still a break from your routine.
Have a wonderful week and do what you can before you leave.
Always
Your VW
Hi VW,
Spotted this as I went to bed last night, thought that it was better to leave it until today, when hopefully I would be less tired!!
In fact I did have a nap this morning, the rain is keeping me in, so thought I would reply to you as I await the arrival of my daughter in an hour or so when she finishes school. I so look forward to her visits on a Wednesday afternoon.
My son phoned yesterday just as I was walking through the door from the cricket. He does try to ring me once a week, if he does not see me.
Not done much gardening upto now this week, I had hoped to really attack one or two areas before I went away!
Regarding the washing, I hate to admit it, but I actually enjoy doing it by hand, I find it to be quite theraputic! OK call me sad!! It is just the drying if the weather is not good.
Might need to leave the washing machine until I get back, will get it sorted before the bad weather creeps in!
I really am looking forward to my holiday now, almost like a child getting quite excited. Yesterday I decided that it would be my last day at cricket for this year, sad saying good bye to people who have become really good friends, for another season.
Did renew my ticket for another year, my son, who does not like me spending money, suggested that I should go to the odd away game and stay for a night or two!! It is something that I have thought about.
Talking of spending money, I have seen a grinder that cleans out the weeds between the paving slabs, it is battery operated, so I will order one when I get back. Did have a hand held one some years ago, it was vary good, but the bristles wore out, and I cannot get a new head.
Must be feeling better the way that I am rambling on, but I do find it very easy to 'talk' to you.
Take care dear lady, enjoy the rest of the week.
As always,
Your VH
I'm glad to hear your kids are keeping track of you. That's important. It IS one of the things that I worry about. My children don't live close and I don't talk to them everyday so if something happened, it might take a while before someone found out.
I'm not sure I'd consider doing my laundry by hand to be therapeutic but whatever works for you. I used to have a clothes line when I lived in AL and I actually liked it for the sheets and towels. I've never been able to have one anywhere else. It IS nice not to have to worry about clothes drying if it's raining though.
I don't think your son should be worried about your funds unless you become senile and I believe you're a long way from that. I'm sure, at this point, you know very well what you can and can not do and I hope you enjoy your holiday!!!!
"Talk" to you when you return.
Always
Your VW
You certainly will.
