A Joke or Devastation?
Introduction
Good Afternoon to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.
The title will propably say it all as I progress with this weeks happenings, as will the reason for the cover image, which I have dragged from one of my files.
I have also decided to start this weeks blog before I have dinner, but could just stop if I get too hungry and finish this off later.
As it is my habit to make you feel hungry as you read this, I am cheating today having a ready cooked beef dinner out of the freezer which I will pop in the microwave when I am ready, followed by toffee cheesecake, possibly all washed down with a glass of Malbec, might even have chesse and biscuits afterwards, as I have a rather tasty mature Cheddar in the fridge.
The Last Few Days
Not quite sure what I intended to do this week, but I do know that despite my good intentions on some days, things have not quite turned out as expexted.
For a few weeks now the washing machine has been playing up refusing to empty at the end of the cycle, to cure this did the usual things, drained the water out of it, mopping the floor every time, my kitchen floor is totally gleaming - LOL!
It has meant that I have been doing the washing by hand, then taking advantage of the nice weather, hanging it out on the line, I have actually quite enjoyed going back to basics.
Deciding that enough was enough, I have ordered a new machine, this is when the fun really started "we can only deliver on Tuesday for free", so offered to pay, still only a Tuesday, why the problem, I can hear you ask? An old school friend, whose sister-in-law is my wife's cousin has passed awaay, and guess what his funeral is on Tuesday.
You may recall that when I went to Bournemouth after Yvonne died, I met an old school friend, it is his funeral!
The problem has been further enhanced as my emails are down, (do not ask), so I cannot contact the suppliers who are due to email on Monday with the delivery time, I am hoping to either phone them tomorrow, or nip into one of their shops.
At the moment I am struggling to sort the email system out, of course I do not remember which password!!
I have made a start on trimming some of the shrubs, even put the fork in one two of the beds and loosed some of the weeds, thanks to the rain!
Began looking at the business, seeing a large number of bits on my inbox, had a look, horror of horrors, going back some years I noticed a number of items that I have paid for have not been used. This made me very cross with me, wasting money as most of them have long gone, what a waste of money.
LESS ON LEARNED
Do not think that they were all neccesarily shiny dollar moments, but things that I thought at the time would be useful and then forgot about them, It has certainly made me sit up and take notice, not just how much money I have wasted but also some good content down the drain.
If I buy anything now it goes striaght into a dedicated followed, having been downloaded first.
The sad thing now is that until I sort the email out I cannot continue the good work which I started.
The Next Few Days
At this moment in time, as you will appreciate I just have not got a clue what I intend to do, gardening is an option, that is if I can be bothered to do it. Do have to sort the emails.
But I will finish this week by giving you one of my simple recipes, for either you or your younger ones.
Stuart's Chocolate Ice Cream
For Each Person

I don't know if it's my age but I can relate to lots of what you are describing, from washing machine problems to bought and unused info products to email passwords. And, like Shirley, I don't even want to get started talking about passwords!
I am now really stingy. I don't upgrade to anything and try to use the free versions of everything. I feel I've wasted quite enough money in the past.
I wonder - do you need to go all the way to Bournemouth for the funeral? That's going to make it a long day - unless you stay the night in a Travelodge or similar. And with washing machine arriving and funeral, a chunk of your week will be taken up.
Good luck with the emails. I'd be the last person to be able to help you with those.
And I love your copyrighted recipe. :-) I actually have some nice Ben & Jerry's ice cream in the freezer - 3 tubs that I got when I was expecting visitors last weekend - and then there was so much food that I completely forgot about them. I have my daughter and grandson coming tonight to watch the US Open Tennis Final - we are a tennis family... so we'll have the ice cream minus the mini chocolate rolls.
Take care.
Isabella
Hi Isabella,
We do seem to be on the same wave length a lot of the time.
Regarding the funeral it is here, Eric lived close by, I saw him when we were both on holiday, me in Bournemouth, he visiting from Weymouth for the day, sorry for the confusion.
T he washing machine is driving me mad!
I have started using different ice cream, Cappacino is divine.
Take care and have a great week.
Stuart
Sounds like my kind of week. Dunno just hate email issues, and passwords-dont get me started on those. I have spent hours on password issues. Too many accounts and too many passwords. Even with a password manager I have frequent issues. And let’s not talk about proton mail when you lose access to all that encrypted email and they can do nothing to help. Sorry you have been dealing with issues. Gardening sounds good. Get out in the light and think happy thoughts. -Shirley

Hey VH
I had to LOOK for this week's blog. I'm not sure why. In any case, I'm here and can sympathize with your washer dilemma. I hate when things like that go wrong. It's such an inconvenience. Yet, I suppose we need to expect that appliances (or cars) will break down at some point.
I had to take my car in for an oil change this week. I was dreading it. I love my mechanics though. They always work me in and get what I need done even doing some work free. I have to get a new filter put in tomorrow and I'm taking them all a sweet treat. It's like getting the kids all sugared up and going home. LOL
I bet 90% of us have been there in buying stuff we don't use. We can even forget that we made the purchase until something happens to make us notice. I guess that means that we are blessed to even be able to do that even if when we find it, we get annoyed at ourselves. So, go easy on yourself.
Your blog didn't help with the craving I've been having for beef. Now it's even stronger! I might have to break down and make some.
Good luck with your email. I know you'll get it figured out. One step at a time.
I'm going to get myself some dinner--not beef tonight though. LOL
Have a good rest of your week.

Hi VW,
Good Morning Lovely Lady, did read this just before I went to bed last night, but I was so tired, thought that it was better to leave it until this morning, I was also a little emotional having been to my old school friends funeral. Another from the form was there it was very fitting as the three of us ran for the school cross country team.
I do not mention washing machine as I am been messed about, may cancel and go elsewhere, just done a load by hand, I did expect to be using the new one today.
Still no joy with the emails, but to be honest that is the least of my problems at the moment, just seem to have so much to do, and no time to do it, but I will take it steady and get there.
Not a happy bunny in that I had a letter from the UK Pensions Office asking for a weeks pension back which they paid after Yvonne died, having written months ago saying that I owed them nothing!!
Think that I will just pay them and not worry!
Must get on and sort out this washing machine,
Enjoy the rest of the week,
As always

You sound a little overwhelmed and I totally get that. I've been alone for about 35 years doing everything myself. I sometimes have what I call a melt down and good cry then pick myself up and get on with what needs to be done to make my world whole and joyful again.
Breathe, say a prayer and take one thing at a time.

Hi VW,
A little over whelmed is about right, got this when I woke up at midnight, went straight to bed, just had a look at any replies, having woken up, again from watching TV at gone 11pm!! As my emails are still done not sure if I went on the site first thing or not, before I went out, confused or what!!
Have had a busy day, went shopping this morning, new shoes and slippers ready for my week away, then farm foods to top up the freezers for a few days.
Had lunch then did an hour or two's gardening trying to top up the compost bins before tomorrow, managed one!!
At least you will understand how I am at times, even if I make a list other things get in the way, just opened a bottle of Malbec in the hope that it wil send me to sleep when I get to bed, first drink for a couple of days, I will only have a glass.
Have a great weekend ahead.
As always
Your VH
I've had a busy and reflective week. Off to a busy weekend. Won't get good sleep until next Wednesday. 😏
You have a good one as well.

Going somewhere nice?
Had a nice hike this morning, lunch with hiking group and after church in the am, going to the theater for lunch and show. The Sound of Music is not one of my favorite shows but I do enjoy going to the theater.
