Our Opportunities Are Endless and So Is Our Success

Whether you believe in a higher power or not, we all have endless opportunities and availability of incredible success. We all have the opportunities to walk into success in our lives, success in our financial futures and success with our families.

Success is defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as:

1.Success with getting or achieving wealth, respect or fame

2.Gaining the correct or desired result of an attempt

3.Someone or something that is successful: a person or thing that succeeds.

We all have the possibilities of achieving these goals if we only dedicate ourselves and apply the knowledge we gain in the quest for success. There are many different philosophies in what is needed to achieve success. However, according to an article in Inc., there are 6 scientifically-proven methods to achieve better success in life. These are:

1.Increase your confidence by taking action: According to the authors of The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, the cause of inaction is low confidence. “[T]aking action bolsters one’s belief in one’s ability to succeed,” they write “So confidence accumulates—through hard work, through success, and even through failure.”

2.Broaden your definition of authenticity: Play-acting, which is the act of emulating the qualities of a successful person, does not make you a fake. It simply means that you are a work in progress.

3.Improve your social skills: Catherine Weinberger, who is an economist for the University of California Santa Barbara, stated: “The most successful business people excel in both cognitive ability and social skills, something that hasn't always been true.” She researched data in 1980 that linked adolescent skills in 1972 and 1992 with adult outcomes and concluded that although it is true today, it was not true then that having the combination of social skills and cognitive ability correlated with improved success. “The people who are both smart and socially adept earn more in today’s work force than similarly endowed workers in 1980.”

4.Train yourself to delay gratification: In the classic Marshmallow Experiment of 1972 in which a young child was given a marshmallow and promised a second one if he or she were able to refrain from eating it for 15 minutes while the researcher offering the delicious treat stepped out of the room. Studies that were conducted over the next 40 years in regards to this experiment concluded that children who could resist the temptation to eat the marshmallow surprisingly grew up to be adults with a decreased incidence of alcohol and drug abuse, improved test skills, and enhanced social skills. These children also grew up to be more equipped to deal with stress and were less obese. However, how would someone improve their ability to increase the success of delaying such things as eating improperly when there is no access to healthy substitutes or continuing with strenuous exercise when that person would rather end the torture? A writer named James Clear suggested that starting small such as choosing one thing every day to improve that they have difficulty with and obligating themselves to choose to not push off such things as tasks that take less than two minutes to do.

5.Demonstrate passion and perseverance for long-term goals: A psychologist named Angela Duckworth found after studying kids and adults for many years discovered one particular characteristic is a noteworthy predictor of success and that is grit. She states “Grit is having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality.” She also stated that living life like it is a marathon instead of a sprint is grit.

6.Embrace a "growth mindset:" Research that was conducted by a Stanford psychologist named Carol Dweck who states the way that people envision their personality influences their capability to poses success and happiness. Those people in the research that had a “fixed mindset,” who believe that things such as creativity, intelligence, and character are unalterable and steering away from failure is a means of possessing smarts and skill. Those people who had a “growth mindset” saw failure as a means of growing and as a result, they embraced trials, were able to persevere against hindrances, attain increased levels of success and gain knowledge from disapproval. So the question thrown out there is “Do people with this mindset believe that anyone can be anything, that anyone with proper motivation or education can become Einstein or Beethoven?” Of course not. However, they do believe in a person’s true potential being undetermined and that it is not possible to foresee potential accomplishments through the application of years of training, toil and passion.

In Conclusion: Success is not just a state of mind; there are techniques and basic principles to understand in the quest for gaining it. The saying “practice makes perfect” is not just a silly saying, it is actually applicable. If we want to be successful in the business of affiliate marketing, we need to not only apply what we learn here and from each other, we also need to believe it is possible to have it. Believing in ourselves is a basic principle to success.

Have a fantastic Wednesday everyone!
