I'm curious how to handle these properly, so far I have been lenient and offered back positive reinforcement.

I'm mostly regarding people who downplay your content, sew

It is sad that people think they have to find something negative to say rather than constructive. Usually you have the option to approve or disapprove the comment before it is posted.

I have had to use it once today already, got close to using it twice but yes common decency is lost on some.

Make sure you have on approve comments so you can put what what you want on your site and if someone is that negative I would just unfollow them because this should be a place to be lifted up not put down ;)

I tend to tone down the ultra-negative comments, correct many spelling errors and things that don't make any sense.

Thankfully i think most of the comments I'm referring to are from people who don't follow me.

I agree as well, all my comments are at the worst constructive criticism if anything and most are uplifting.

Unless they show clear evidence that you are wrong and they are right (300+ words) delete them so they get no credit at all. Also, if you get too many of these may consider looking at your sources...
If its clear spam, report them and send a copy to kyle of the behavior. I know he cant be like police but sure can put them a max of comments a day to avoid spam.
Either they seek ranking or credits, either way youll give them none

Hey Ace, yeah I will, I disapproved the blatant copy & paste comment. My claims regarding my sources are spot on, backed up with proof I feel confident there, just seems like comments are being put forth without reading any of the material I am providing.

I'll get a handle on it.

Someone just copied and pasted a section of text from the article i posted to be commented on and pasted it into the comment section and submitted the comment. Must remain calm.

wow what? who are these people commenting on your stuff? people from WA?

I am strictly using the comment feature feedback section of WA , so yes .. 95% of people actually reply decently, just a streak of bad luck.

Just calmly delete it -- I think that It's most likely that sort of comment spam was done by a bot rather than a real person.

not everyone can be awesome.

If it's not doing you any favours and you can't turn it around to your benefit, I would delete it. I don't disapprove comments because then they will receive an email telling them whereas deleting it they won't know what happened to their comment.

Actually that is really good to know, last thing I need is more negative vibes. appreciate that Tip good sir.

I would just delete/don't accept them. No need to have unreasonably negative comments on your site. If you really do need to improve your site then do so, but if they are just negative without merit, delete them and don't look back!

It is better to have a few less comments on your site then bad ones! Don't feel obligated to keep them.

Almost got rid of one today , hovered over the button but decided against it, edited my response a bit ago to be a bit "friendlier" lol. Thanks for the advice SwanG

When I started I wondered the same thing. I don't let it bother me now!

You can use negative comments as a mirror to straighten yourself out or comb your hair so to speak. As Dvo posted, thank them.
And see if you can use them to better your operation Otherwise, let them go and do what works for you.

I understand, most of the negative comments I receive are "This is a waste of time". It makes me wonder why people did not hit "not interested" and moved on to something more relevant to their liking.

Thank them for their feedback or honesty

I shall proceed as such.

I kind of take it with a grain of salt.... I thank them for writing and indicate that I will consider whether or not their comments will enhance my site. I figure that they kind of balance out the extremely insincere positive comments.

Fair enough I suppose i could do the same :) thanks DrJec

Which thread are you using for requesting comments or feedback? l always use https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/website-feedback and so far so good.

Using the comments / feedback section here on site.. the do 2 get 1 dealio.

Be sure that you're not confusing comments and feedback -- they're two entirely different things.

Feedback - impressions and suggestions regarding your site's structure, content, and appearance

Comments - responses to the content of a specific article on your site.
