Does anyone have success with building their YouTube channel and getting subscribers? Thank you.

I don't know how to "attract traffic" to YouTube channels, I think it's a lot more difficult than attracting audiences to just blogs or websites. I've had a YouTube channel for years, and I still struggle trying to gain subscribers (mostly because I'm quite inactive). But here are a few tips I learned while being on YouTube... hope it helps!
1. Have eye-catching, professional-looking channel banner and video thumbnails. People are inclined to click on eye-catching thumbnails, so make sure you make it clear what that video is about with your thumbnails!
2. You can start commenting on similar channels. There are actually a lot of beginning YouTubers that comment stuff like "subscribe to me and I'll subscribe back!" but I honestly think that's a bit too pushy, I think it works better if you write a short summary about yourself, your channel, and why you think people should subscribe to you.
3. CLICKBAIT. This works really well for most famous YouTubers lately, but I wouldn't suggest it if your videos are more information, fact-based. If that's the case, then people will most likely come to your channel just from seeing your video titles and thumbnails because they're curious to find out more.
4. Engage with your subscribers, and make sure to post regularly so people keep coming back. Ask them to kindly subscribe and like your videos but don't push it, just be like "if this video helped or if you liked it, please don't forget to leave a like and click the subscribe button!"
5. You can always pay for video/channel promotions, and your videos will pop up on the side while people are watching other videos. But what I don't like about this function is that then your videos become ads, and not a lot of millennials like being lured into watching ads.
6. Follow up and engage by creating other social media platforms like FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram. Instagram is a great way to monetarily promote your content, but again, I wouldn't suggest this unless your videos are informational or charity-related. Otherwise, people are less inclined to want to follow you.
But honestly, YouTube is mostly luck-based, and with their new updates, it's harder to gain revenue and views. Before, you could much more easily drive traffic and viewers to your channel (I used to get 5K+ views on a video with ease), but now I can barely get a hundred. I have no idea how this happened or why, but it's been a complaint for a lot of old YouTubers.
I really hope this list helped, but then again I'm not a successful YouTuber myself so I can't say I'm speaking from experience.
Have a great day! I wish you the best of luck. :)

Hi, Sunny, well, you may not consider yourself a "successful YouTuber," but you sure have garnered a lot more experience and viewers than I have. Thank you so much for the wonderful tips. I had never heard of Clickbait, for instance. But, I will have to put more time and thought into whether or not YT is where I need to expend my energies. My WA site is my primary focus, of course, but the satellite social avenues have their place, too. Funny: the image just popped into my mind that all of this is like conducting an orchestra - lots of pieces parts. Thanks again, Sunny!

No problem! I'm glad I could be helpful. And yes, your orchestra image is so accurate!! I wish you the best of luck :)

SEO for YouTube is as complicated as it is for a website. There's no short and simple answer.

I think you are quite right, Marion. There is a lot more to this than first meets the eye. Guess I will keep on plugging for now. Thanks for your time.

I'd like to know this as well!

I just wrote something on this question board, maybe that will help a bit? :)

Good day to you Priscilla, if this ever happens again, try using your back button to link back to where you were previously. Once you click away from the page you wanted to leave a comment on, there is no retrieving.
This has happened to me many times. What I try to do is,
1. keep the current page active on my screen
2. open a word processor program to write my message
3.Then just a simple 'copy and paste' is all that is needed.
Good question. I hope this helps.
Ken

Hi, Ken. Yes, you are so right. That's exactly what I was trying to do, having both open at the same time. But somehow I managed to lose it, and the back button was grayed out. Darn. Trish was kind enough to suggest I post a message on the Site Feedback (not Comment as I initially said - oops), to see if the offer might come around again. Again, thanks for your kind response. Take care! Priscilla

Hey Priscilla,

Having had this very same issue myself, I do not know of any way you can retrieve a comment. I have just moved on when that happened.

Have you tried leaving comments and then coming back to see if the site gets offered to you again? LOL, I just thought of that now myself.

Or ... you could simply save the comment for later use in case the same post gets offered to you again.

Hi, Triblu,
Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I did save my comments, in case it comes up again, as I would hate to lose all the info I wrote. But I am game to leave a comment and see if that helps. Where exactly would I do that? (i wasn't even sure where to post my question that you responded to.)

Thanks so much,
Priscilla

You have asked your question correctly, so you've no need of repeating yourself. See ... WA is pretty much user-friendly. :-))

Sounds great, Triblu. The site feedback I was working on is kitesurfingequipment.com by Marcel. I would like to share my comments on his site if it comes up again.

Thanks again,
Priscilla

...or, you could go directly to his website and share you comment there ... providing it is NOT feedback. You know the old saying "what goes around, comes around".

My mistake, Trish. It was a site feedback, not comment. Any other thoughts on how to retrieve that feedback request?

Try the same method that I suggested for commenting. Go back and see if you're offered that same post again ... else ... no way of retrieving that I am aware of.
