Day 2: Passion or "Proper"

Today's affirmation is: believe in yourself

I ended up picking two niches to work with, one on a previous website I already built and a new one. I find it's easier to go with two because then I can have one I'm passionate about and one that I'm simply doing for business. I'm sure this isn't the best way to do things, but trusting my instincts never really is about doing things "the best way."

Writing about things I'm passionate about leads to less burnout. I can vent and explore and enjoy the topics, without worrying about the "perfect keywords" or writing for an audience. It's really about me, and in that sense not about the money.

Some people's passions end up leading them to the money - who knew that Marvel would be such a big thing back when we were trading comics in high school? Just kidding, I totally did. But anyway, I see people creating content every day that goes viral when they didn't expect it at all, while others stick to their rules and get no traction at all on very popular subjects. Passion leads the way, in my opinion.

While it is true that it's always easier to write about things you're passionate about, in affiliate marketing that can get sticky because personal passion can be complicated and doesn't always fit the affiliate narrative. When we try to make it fit, it can come out seeming awkward and unnatural.

So, I can either keep focusing on my passion until money-making opportunities come along, or I can steer in the direction of what people are looking to buy right now. Right or wrong, I choose to do a little bit of both for the sake of my own fullfilment.
