Ok, so it's been exactly 1 month since I posted Success Is A State Of Mind.
In the post I asked you to take a challenge with me, I would really like to know how things are going for those of you who decided to accept the challenge. If you are uncomfortable posting it in the comments, send me a personal message.
A Little Background
Before I talk about my results, I would like to give you a little background about me and where I am at in my life.
I grew up in a lower middle class family and money has always been a big struggle in my life. I am a single father, I live in Sedona, Arizona, I work 8 to 5 in a small automotive shop.
A Desperate Situation
A couple years a couple years ago I started to buy a lot of automotive tools on credit. This was so unlike me, in the past I never bought anything unless I had cash. I was keeping up with the the payments until I got hit with a couple surprises.
There was some kind of confusion with my taxes and all the sudden I owed the IRS $8,000 dollars in back taxes. Shortly after that I got sued for an old credit card debt and they began garnishing my wages. In the matter of a month I went from "getting by" to "can't afford to eat every day!" I was devastated.
Changing My Thought Process

I have to admit the challenge I proposed to myself and everyone who read my "Success" post has not been an easy one.
I started by taking five minutes each night before bed. Trying to push my money situation out of my mind and thinking in abundance. It took me a couple of weeks before I started feeling like I wasn't trying to bullshit myself.
A Realization
The more I was thinking about money, the more I realized that money was not what I wanted. What money could buy is what I want! Some of the biggest fortunes made have been by people who did not invest a single dime of their own. They had a dream and got creative with the way they reached it.
I believe that focusing on the goal rather than the money needed to reach the goal is a much more realistic way of achieving what you want.
My Goals For 2014
I have set some fairly high goals for myself this year.
- Make $2,500 a month with my websites
- Pay off all my debt
- Lower my overhead as much as possible
- Start a college fund for my daughter
- Start building a warehouse with living and work space. The warehouse will be fully sustained(solar, well, garden/green house)
How Do I Reach These Goals
I don't have a 100% clear plan as of yet. I have started to sell off the things I don't need and putting it towards my debt and cutting corners off my monthly overhead.
I crunched the numbers and figured out that if I can find a private loan for the warehouse, my monthly payment will be less than I am paying for rent on my apartment. I am working on setting up trades with local builders in the area, they always have left over materials and many of them need vehicle repairs or websites.
Over all I am thinking every day about my goals, putting it out in to the world and looking for creative ways to achieve them.
