Success Is A State Of Mind 2 - The Continuation
Ok, so it's been exactly 1 month since I posted Success Is A State Of Mind.
In the post I asked you to take a challenge with me, I would really like to know how things are going for those of you who decided to accept the challenge. If you are uncomfortable posting it in the comments, send me a personal message.
A Little Background
Before I talk about my results, I would like to give you a little background about me and where I am at in my life.
I grew up in a lower middle class family and money has always been a big struggle in my life. I am a single father, I live in Sedona, Arizona, I work 8 to 5 in a small automotive shop.
A Desperate Situation
A couple years a couple years ago I started to buy a lot of automotive tools on credit. This was so unlike me, in the past I never bought anything unless I had cash. I was keeping up with the the payments until I got hit with a couple surprises.
There was some kind of confusion with my taxes and all the sudden I owed the IRS $8,000 dollars in back taxes. Shortly after that I got sued for an old credit card debt and they began garnishing my wages. In the matter of a month I went from "getting by" to "can't afford to eat every day!" I was devastated.
Changing My Thought Process
I have to admit the challenge I proposed to myself and everyone who read my "Success" post has not been an easy one.
I started by taking five minutes each night before bed. Trying to push my money situation out of my mind and thinking in abundance. It took me a couple of weeks before I started feeling like I wasn't trying to bullshit myself.
A Realization
The more I was thinking about money, the more I realized that money was not what I wanted. What money could buy is what I want! Some of the biggest fortunes made have been by people who did not invest a single dime of their own. They had a dream and got creative with the way they reached it.
I believe that focusing on the goal rather than the money needed to reach the goal is a much more realistic way of achieving what you want.
My Goals For 2014
I have set some fairly high goals for myself this year.
- Make $2,500 a month with my websites
- Pay off all my debt
- Lower my overhead as much as possible
- Start a college fund for my daughter
- Start building a warehouse with living and work space. The warehouse will be fully sustained(solar, well, garden/green house)
How Do I Reach These Goals
I don't have a 100% clear plan as of yet. I have started to sell off the things I don't need and putting it towards my debt and cutting corners off my monthly overhead.
I crunched the numbers and figured out that if I can find a private loan for the warehouse, my monthly payment will be less than I am paying for rent on my apartment. I am working on setting up trades with local builders in the area, they always have left over materials and many of them need vehicle repairs or websites.
Over all I am thinking every day about my goals, putting it out in to the world and looking for creative ways to achieve them.

Didn't realize you live in Sedona. What a great place. I spent a lot of time walking there (and taking tons of photos). Your goals are certainly achievable. Keep up the abundance thoughts. The next time I go there, I'll check up on you to see how you've done. :-)
Echoing what has been said here already- a lovely and gutsy read and person. Do what you have been doing recently and you will rise and rise, best wishes Andy
Hi Lucian, Great to read your blog and good on you for being so honest. Honesty for some people can be their biggest enemy. The old saying is you have to hit rock bottom to reach the top, good for you, now you are heading in the right direction with so much more knowledge respect and love. Enjoy the ride, love to hear more on your success. Cheena
Thanks for reading my post and welcome to WA. You're in the right place. I have met so many genuine people here! Which is really weird to say about an Internet Marketing community. Anything you need, don't hesitate to ask, everyone here is super eager to help.
Right after I finished this post I had thought about writing a post about honesty in our writing and showing a human side to our sites. I for one buy things from people. You confirmed it, that will be my next post.
Recently I was listening to the late Mr. Jim Rohn on the "Art Of Exceptional Living". What you had to say about goals and abundance in your post is very similar to what I was listening to on his cd.. Thanks for the reminder that I am on the right track.
Sincerely Mike
You are so right! I think we do tend to focus on the immediate problem -- money. With the bigger, broader view of what you want to accomplish, it does seem attainable! Great blog. Makes me think....
Thank you for taking time to read my post. My goal was to induce positive thought in to at least one person. Goal attained!
I am sure you reached more than just me. :) Good luck and if you need anything, please let me know! Terri

Two terrific posts. I'm sure you're right about how the mind works, and receiving, or not, abundance. My family had extensive medical bills for my mom when I was growing up. I struggle with this mental roadblock too. Thanks for the ideas. Wishing you openness and abundance!
