A little more on sales! This is a long post so don't read it :)

Well, I worked in sales!

The one very difficult to master - selling life insurance - especially where I come from!

I thought I could never do it. To sell such a product. People say it is the most difficult type of sales, and here where I live, it does not have good reputation. People who sell insurance are often stigmatized as being fraudulent (is it the case where you live?), meaning it makes the job even harder.

My education background hasn't got anything with sales. I just wanted to work and the list of jobs was scars here.

What made me do it?

First of all, I wanted to contribute my household, but believe me, I could have been a waiter for that.

Secondly, I wanted to learn, I needed a challenge which would help me become good at something difficult. And, make good money!

Thirdly, I wanted to earn by not scamming people. That is, I have set a personal goal which was to prove that this job can be done by being (completely) honest, and you can be damn good at it. I sold with providing detailed truthful information. You'll have to believe me this one :)

My will to learn has got me a nice salary and also a promotion. But then, I wanted to do something else, so I am here! :)

Another thing mattered: in sales there are GOALS! You must achieve your goals or you lose your job! And those goals must be done on short terms, especially if you want your salary to be decent.

These goals, as much as I hated them, made me work harder and I had to confess to myself that each time that I did not sell, it was because I must have been doing something wrong (there are always exceptions).

This work experience was relevant for me!

Why I wrote this?

Because I found that the goals I make have to be specific. I found that by saying "my goal is to succeed and my goal is to achieve income" is not a goal, it is merely a wish! And dear God knows that people have a lot of wishes.

Goal needs to be specific, preferably expressed with numbers. These goals have to stand out from everything you are doing, meaning always one level (not two) higher than you think your possibilities are! Additionally and in my opinion, if you set a goal which is two levels higher than you are able to do at the given moment, you will give up easily because from the minute you set those overachieving goals, you will know that they are wrong!

It is like believing in scam sites. Earn $ 5000 dollars in 5 days! Yeah right, who would sainly give me $5000 bucks in 5 days, and all of this for a lousy fee of 10. Why don't they charge me more for this goldmine! And lastly, why the heck don't they do it themselves? I am sure it is one hell of a job! :)

The upper example is deceiving + self-deceiving; I ' m not saying you cannot make that money in that period, but you have to take multiple factors in the game: How much knowledge do you have in marketing? How much experience do you have? Exactly how much time are you willing to spend to gain that money? How big are your social networks? Even how quickly do you grasp things?

So the next time you set your goals think about these! Maybe you want even to revise the goals given by Kyle and Carson.

I liked their scheme of financial and non financial goal and have added something to them.

My daily plan.

Daily I work 4 hrs between 8 am and 12 am. For the time being I will just finish the training and follow instructions. Once I 'm done with the training I will define each day:

8- 9 social networks

9-10 website construction

10-11 article writing

11-12 learning more

I make myself gain the routine in what I am doing by giving it a specific goal oriented plan. This plan can be altered depending on what you learn but you have to know what are you doing that day. That is time management! :)

And lastly, don't be afraid if sometimes you do not succeed! That is ok! But be sure to work good and organized!

Unlike in my job experience, here at WA you won't get fired! But, you will invest your time, energy and eyesight so you wanna make sure you have done it for a good cause :)! And luckily, everyone can succeed!

Just to conclude on being possibly bad at something.

Sure, everyone can be bad at something, but they could be the best they can!

You might not have a great voice, but you can sing, you have your voice! And what you get out of it? A lot of fun and pleasure! Maybe you can do a funny singing video with your friends? Maybe sell it? Just a thought! :) And if you do, at least put it on youtube and send me a link :)

If you have some idea which is similar to my singing example I would love to see it! Don't be shy!

Best wishes and...

Cheers!

You are totally right about having time bound goals. I also like the way you organise your work to make sure you focus in the right areas. Well done! Let me know how it goes!
