OK, so this is the lessons learned so far.

I thought I was going to be able to slam dunk this, and I think I am progressing, but....there are some basic things that I think need highlighted, outlined.

1. Commitment. When people say "take action every day" what they _actually_ mean is "take action every day," because action = progress, and daily = well, daily... so you need to do something (no matter how small, how tangible, how insignificant) every day. Add to your blog, do a new page for our site, comment, ask, correct speelin, whatever. Every single day you need to be on your site doing something.

2. Miracles only happen in stories. OK - maybe there are miracles that happen in real life but believe me they don't "just happen" even in stories. They are made to happen. So don't expect to sit back and watch the world lay a path of dollars to your door, it aint gunna happen. When you believe you're adding value, that's wonderful and feels great. But if your audience doesn't see that value, it's pointless getting righteous. The value clearly isn't where you thought - get used to that, and try again.

3. Try again. And again. Then once more, twice more, 20 times more. At some point you will get "it" (and no, as yet I haven't). Failure is only about NOT trying again - success comes from trying again and again until you find success.

4. Get discouraged, have a tantrum, walk away, walk the dog, go for a bike ride, ignore the computer for a few days (mind you, see point 1), but always, always come back. the answers are here, the questions have all been asked. You need a bit of patience but you will get there.

5. Something else I have yet to get right - use this community. Throughout my career I have been the mentor, the guide, the leader, now I must learn to ask, to follow, to learn and seek guidance. This, perhaps, is the strangest path for me to learn (no intending to be arrogant or egotistical) because it is, seriously, new to me. This is where I will be focused over coming days. I need to find myself a small number of mentors I can approach, work with and shamelessly use to learn from. It is too easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer exuberance of the community, and quantity of information available, I need help sorting it, using it appropriately.
