Greetings everyone.

When I discovered Wealthy Affiliate I knew that I had found the right place at the right time. Just what I had always wanted, a chance to earn residual income. I was really Gung Ho! Everything was available to get this IM done. After a week or two I was struck down by information overload, so I retreated for a while to get myself together. Once again I entered the fray only to jump from one thing to another. Wow this is a great idea, but wait a minute this looks good too.

I had my sites set quite high, I knew that this could be a million dollar business, so that is where I had set my goals. I did a lot of reading and studying. I had no focus, allowing the treasure trove of information to overwhelm me. I could not understand why this kept eluding me. I had read many times that one had to take action. Just studying and reading would just not cut it.

I felt that I had taken action a number of times and I was not getting any results. I have finally come to the conclusion that I was biting off more than I could chew. I joined WA on April 19, 2010 and so far have not earned a single dime from the Internet. I would like to thank *BIS for this very helpful tip. "Sometimes we have to take a step backwards to continue our forward journey."

I am approaching my third anniversary with WA and thanks to their Boot-camp Course I have learned more than I have in the past few years. I have set a new goal for myself that I find to be more achievable.

My goal is to earn one dollar from the Internet. There a tens of thousands of people online wanting to have what we have here. It should not be too difficult to show them a way that they can earn extra money to supplement their present income.

With the new training courses and step by step training it should help to take some of the information overload out of the picture. I have learned that it is so much easier to be a friend and lend a helping hand than it is to always be saying "You have to do this" or "You have to do that" No not that way do it this way", People just do not appreciate being told what to do.

I have also adopted a new strategy to go hand in hand with learning new tricks. Replacing an old habit with a newer more beneficial one. That being to never miss a day on WA if it can be avoided. Even if you are only on for a few minutes just to say hello in chat. But try to be more beneficial by doing work on your website or to write a blog. My goal for today was to write this blog/. Guess that I have succeeded with that. :-D

Yes, old dogs can learn some pretty awesome new tricks!

:-D

As a long time senior I truly do think it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks. I think the reasons why this can happen is that those who do learn come with an open mind to embrace change and new things. They look for the good in the new rather than the negatives - I have always done it this way, I am too old to learn etc. to me it's fascinating to learn new things. This morning I downloaded a free screen capture tool, got it to work and now can more quickly make my pages more interesting and readable. A small step but for me a big acheivement,
Keep focused and move forward,
Regards
Hudson.

I really appreciate your comment, Hudson. I just love to look at the positive elements in a person's life. I have met people that are in their early 50's that are feeling tired and worn out, convinced that there is nothing left for them in life. Very sad situation. On the other hand I was in a nursing home the other day and there was this spry young fellow of 88 playing the piano. He asked me if I had a request and I asked him if he knew "Rhapsody In Blue" by Gershwin. He immediately started playing that tune from start to finish. I was totally amazed. Just an example of how a persons attitude can make a huge difference in their life.

Great blog, this got my attention, maybe because I am in the same boat. I have even used that line but didn't really pay attention to what it meant until recently. Yes I believe you can teach old dogs new tricks, but they got to be good ones, and sometimes it is hard to get our attention. I don't know about jumping through hoops on fire though. Hey take care and see you around.

You bet Sir William. Thanks for the reply. My new trick is to spend time on WA every day. Most importantly to do something significant with my business. So far so good.

Thanks for your comment Bill. It took me a very long time to realize that I was trying to drive two vehicles at the same time in two very different directions. :-D

I believe you will earn your $1 any day now....then turn into $10....then $100...then$1,000 etc... Key is, never give up, and eliminate what does not work. : Bill

You may have heard something like this but: "it's better to learn one thing at a time and get good doing it than try to learn too much and not get anything done." : )

Thank you for your comment. That is exactly the point that I was trying to get across
