Distraction Advice
I find it amazing here at WA. So much to look at. So much to absorb. So much to get distracted by...
After trying so many IM programs in the past and having all of these bits and pieces to put together but never knowing how, I find it incredible to have so many resources under one roof. Finally I can see how the puzzle fits together.
I have a question though. Does anyone have any advice about keeping themselves from getting distracted?
My plan is to try and segment and dedicate time slots to certain tasks. I had heard from someone that I used to work on that you need to categorize tasks into 4 parts.
- Urgent and Important
- Urgent but Not Important
- Important but Not Urgent
- Not Important and Not Urgent
Does anyone else have a plan or method that helps them? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Choose 2 to 3 tasks that are most important and set the other tasks later. Chances are, not everything you need to do will be productive, right? If so, then consider only the few things that really matter for your business because those are the things that will propel you forward to success.
Here's my reference to MITs if you want to know more:

All the best,

I seem to make plans sometimes and fail to make them other times. Making a schedule helps you to get more done even if you don't totally stick to it. The trouble i have is sometimes I have my day all planned out and my granddaughter calls and needs my to babysit her adorable daughter. There goes my plan. Life interferes with WA. Lol.
i plan my day on my electronic calendar. i work in 1 hour chunks with 15 min breaks between. i have a text file called "later" were i save anything non work related for looking at in my free time
I find it hard at times not to be distracted while working within WA. The only way I can overcome the distraction is to start my day with a short list of priorities and focus strictly on completing those tasks. I believe this is a matter of mindset and perseverance.
Hi Peter, I blogged about this a while back: Anyone Heard of PEP? The categorization technique is known as the Personal Efficiency Program (PEP). Very effective indeed!
Thanks Chook! No need to explain to a fellow Aussie..!
Definitely Q3 is my issue..
Cheers,
Peter
