The power of time blocking in your business

I have started to block time out for my business activities and treat them as a time to practice my focusing abilities.

For example I will set out 15 minutes now to write this blog post and try to hit 500 words as this is a topic I like writing about. And after that 15 minutes is up I will try to finish up this task and then move onto the next task I need to do that is non business related such as cleaning the kitchen and I'll do that in a 30 minute time block or even try and beat that time. With house work tasks I find putting AirPods in and listening to a podcast or music helps me to get in a flow. with business activities I find that having Chillout music play on low helps sooth my mind while I focus on the set time block task.

I can rarely sit still for 1 hour so I set time for 30 minutes usually. I have a timer app on computer that helps with this and also the befocus app on iPhone is great too and it even has a goal for you to hit 10 25 minute time blocks a day and I love this concept, so simple yet easy to track.

See I'm halfway through the word target now and I still have 10 minutes left. I'll try to use this tool everyday.

So I have learnt that my mind needs guardrails to work effectively in my personal goals otherwise it quickly derails to YouTube binge watching as ill and information addict but I leave that for after I have completed my work so that mind hase something to look forward to.

So to start this properly begin on your most stressed over pressing task first. That way you will feel so good for starting something hard that the less hard things will become a walk in the park in comparison to the hard task and Brian Tracey the author refers to that as eating the frog 🐸

Having this level of guidance for the mind to work with can make your self worth soar to new heights as you feel good for achieving difficult tasks. This has holistic benefits for your WHOLE LIFE!

It's good to create a template for your day when starting out so you know ahead of time how your day will do and at end of each day change it according to how good it worked.

Make sure you set timeblocks so fun things you want to learn that may not be profit driven tasks but more character developing tasks. As we need to think about other things in life instead of just profits and this will create more happiness that money may not be able to by in the future and we cannot forget that and enjoy the journey we are on now and how it is making us a better person and strong in mind as we can work through tasks effectively and with small time blocks instead of letting just one task take a complete grip of your whole day with nothing to show for it And just an empty feeling of non achomplishment.

So please let me know if you have done this before and if you have found this helpful for you in your business.

Regards,

Peter

Blocking time can be a great way to get things done I like to block out a week in advance so every Sunday I know relative what is happening each day. I always need to allow for hiccups.

Thanks for sharing Peter.

Best wishes

Sandra.
