I didn't know what to call this. I had already used the title, 'the journey so far', so I just picked something. What's in a name anyway, right!
I have been annoyingly optimistic all day! I am really enjoying working with Wealthy Affiliates and having my own website. I had forgotten how much I enjoy writing! I am in Course 4 lesson 7, of the Online Entrepreneur Program and it has really been a blast. I have learned so much, and met so many great people from all over the world. According to the training, I am supposed to share some specific things. One is my progress so far. I have:
Obtained a domain name and built a website with pages of info.
Learned how to post to this site at least every other day, while keeping the material fresh and relevant.
Learned how Google and other search engines rank websites and some of the 'tricks' to get your site indexed with Google.
Learned about all kinds of awesome online tools for doing keyword research, checking the performance of a website and optimizing it and so much more.

Learned how to add affiliate links and pay per click links to monetize my site. (also learned that those ads and stuff on peoples websites are, for the most part not harmful. I used to avoid them like the plague, now I realize I was denying someone their payment)
Learned how to use social media to reach more people. (not just throw up a note that says (hey, check out this website!)
Learned that being successful and ultimately making money on the internet starts with a mindset of HELPING OTHER PEOPLE!
Made my first $11 in commissions! (woo hoo, watch out Bill Gates!)
And the list could go on and on, but alas, I cannot, I need to get some sleep!
Where do I plan to be with this in 3 months? Well I would like to see my daily visits to my site triple. (it is about 25-30 now) Also I would like to see regular income. How much? At this point I have no idea. Ideally I would like to see at least $50 per month, which would cover my monthly expenses. Also by the end of that 3 months I would like to have completed the course I am currently in and also complete what is called the Affiliate Bootcamp, This is another course thru WA that focuses on building a website that recruits other people to WA. While I would have no qualms about telling people this is a great deal, I am just not sure at this point it is the route I want to go. By the end of that 3 months I want to either start another website dedicated to recruiting others, or get another domain having to do with DIY projects and start a specific site and subdomain on one type of DIY, such as car maintenance, gardening, heating with wood, home improvement, etc.
By the end of 6 months, I want to be earning enough from this that I can seriously dream about saying good bye to my day job. (still probably a year out from there, but within dreaming distance) Sticking with the financial goals theme, I want to be earning enough in that 6 -12 month timeframe to allow us to pay off our home or come real close. From the standpoint of my websites, I want to have 3-4 sites by the end of that 6 months. One site will be for my wife to talk about something that she chooses. She should have made up her mind by then! :)
In the meantime, I am going to just keep putting in time every day at this, and trying to reach out and help others as I go.
