Deep sigh

So, is this going to work? Have I picked the right niche? Am I wasting precious time and money? Am I the only one that has these thoughts? I am going thru the training step by step. Set up my google analytics last night per Course 3 lesson 9 and that was thoroughly depressing. I checked it today and there was no traffic. It was kind of weird though because I have been on it a couple of times. I am engaging people on social networks, dropping the website name whenever I can. I get plenty of likes on my Facebook page for my site, but the traffic does not seem to be going to the site. I have ads and affiliate links up, but no hits. I am coming up on the 1 month mark. I know that is not much time but I guess I am just tired and discouraged. I don't want to be making $100 bucks a month at this 2 years from now and still stuck in the dead end job.

Sorry this is such a negative post. I just spent $800 bucks today for the hardware to hook up a woodstove for heating next year. I am thinking I need to start another website that is about home repair. LOL, so I am wondering in one breath if this is worth it and thinking about my next web site with the next breath. I guess I am hooked. I just wish that I could ditch the day job and concentrate on this.

Anyway, enough whining. Please let me know, am I the only one that is having these doubts and concerns? I know I have come a long way in a short period of time.......

Thanks,

Jerry

I think you have to keep plodding along cheers Helen

You see no data because it only shows data since you've set it up. It can't pull data from before you set up Analytics.

Jerry, don't ever think for one minute that you are "wasting your time" by thinking if you've chosen the wrong niche. If things are slow now, think of it as valuable experience and training. Let's say you do decide to create another, additional website with a totally different niches. Having done everything so far with the first website/niche, you'll FLY AT TOP RATE SPEED at setting up the second website/niche. Your fingers will seem a blur as you look down at your keyboard and your hand will seem a blur moving from the keyboard to the mouse and back again. And then after that if you choose a THIRD and additional niche, you'll move even faster at setting that one up. Don't worry, you're doing fine.

Thanks!

I understand where you're coming from. I've been there too. It's not a good feeling, but it does gets better.:)

Thanks!

Oh, Perkyboy you are not alone,,I keep thinking the same thing and wonder if my niche is worth my time and money. Should I start another, should I get a real job where I am making money not spending money...oh, the negativity that runs through my head, but then I think of the training that I am getting and does that make it all worth while or again does it if I am still paying and not making anything. I don't know...hours on my computer is more than 8-5 job so I am not sure either. Good luck buddy and I wish you the best!

Thanks! I am just going to keep plugging away. I do think I am going to start another site though on the free domain and start cataloging some of my home improvement projects. I know I am always searching the web when I start a project so I assume others are as well.

Hi Jerry,
I took some action with what you said earlier to me. I bought my domain blogyourniche.com today, and I've decided to use that as a base, and add a subdomain site called realestate.blogyourniche.com, to do real estate related things. This way, I can piggy back off the domain I already purchased, and it's still branded to me, in a way. Have you considered something like this with yours for your projects?
Gary

Actually that had not occurred to me. I wish I had thought of that, I would have named my website differently! I may have to do that with the next one. I tend to be a bit of a do it your selfer, I could go with that them for the base and then break it down to house, car, yard, garden, etc. Good thought! You might bring that up on the main question feed as a separate topic to see if anyone has run into issues doing that.

Thanks,

Jerry

If you do this with house, car, yard, garden, you could probably keep each site focused on the subject, but have links to the other related sites. Each would be a niche, and probably seasonal as well.

yup, thanks, you just made a lot more work for me! Just kidding, I actually enjoy this, just wish I had more time to devote to it!

I've been looking through previous discussions about subdomains, and I haven't seen anything that tells me it's a bad thing. Some of the problems discussed are dated in 2010, and I'm sure WA has improved greatly since then. I didn't mean to create more work for you, but I did get excited thinking about it as well. I might create a question to get some clarification before I really jump in with it.

hi perkyboy,
The whole internet marketing training takes time to master but it looks like its simplicity has been hyped beyond proportion we all get deceived. all the concepts are so broad. what you need is patience, unless youll pay experts and consultants to have everything done for you. most of us feel like you do from time to time. members do leave for various reasons and also come back after some time. the decision is yours but i would not suggest you leave your job till youve seen appreciable earnings from your efforts. some do set a goal of how much they want to earn before they go into this full time. cheers

You should be getting some sort of traffic Jerry, even if it is referral traffic from people liking your site.

It's also normal to have this problem early on but it is not something that will stay that way, not as long as you keep adding content. This is the same thing that happened to me and what changed was ust adding that content like I talked about.

It started with no visits a day, then a few, then 50 a day, now it's hundreds.

I know you're right. I am just getting frustrated because I am busy to the point I am only getting a post out every 2 days now, and even that feels rushed.

Once every 2 days is still an excellent way to go Jerry. I usually do mine once every 2 days too.

cool, thanks!
