PeterOS My Operating System: From an Idea to Something I Can Actually Use

In my previous post, I talked about the next stage of something I've been developing called Peter OS.

The basic idea is simple.

Instead of treating my business, finances, health and personal development as completely separate parts of life, what would happen if I brought them together into one personal operating system?

At that point, Peter OS was largely an idea and a framework.

Today, something changed.

I built the first working version.

I've included a screenshot because I think it explains what I'm trying to create far better than another thousand words could.

From Talking About It to Building It

One thing I've noticed with online business, and probably life generally is how easy it is to spend enormous amounts of time planning.

You research.

You make lists.

You watch videos.

You buy courses.

You ask AI questions.

You come up with another idea.

And somehow, despite being incredibly busy, nothing tangible actually gets built.

I don't want Peter OS to become another one of those ideas.

So this morning I decided it was time to move from thinking about the system to actually building the system.

With the help of AI, I've now created Peter OS version 0.1 as a working dashboard on my laptop.

It's very early.

It's certainly not finished.

But it works.

And that's quite an important distinction.

What Peter OS Looks Like Today

PeterOS1.01

(apologies as the screenshot doesn't seem to have come out perfectly)

The home screen currently revolves around three main pillars:

Business

This is where OnlineStriver, content creation, audience building, Wealthy Affiliate and eventually the commercial side of Peter OS will come together.

Finance

This is about creating greater financial security, tracking income and spending, reducing debt, building recurring income and growing investments over time.

Health

I've deliberately made this about sustainable health rather than chasing unrealistic fitness targets.

For me, that means walking, strength, mobility, nutrition, hydration, sleep and recovery.

Running was originally going to be part of this, but I've taken it out because it was causing too many injuries.

That itself is actually part of what I want Peter OS to represent.

The system has to adapt to reality.

There's no point blindly following a plan that isn't working.

The Part I Particularly Like

At the top of the dashboard there's a very simple question:

Ready to put this into action?

Start your free journey today — no credit card required.

What's today's single most important focus?

I think this could become one of the most valuable parts of the whole system.

Because I've realised my problem often isn't knowing what I could do.

There are always dozens of things I could do.

The harder question is:

What should I do next?

If Peter OS can help answer that consistently, it becomes far more useful than another productivity app filled with hundreds of tasks.

The aim isn't to give myself more things to do.

It's to become clearer about what actually matters.

Each Pillar Goes Deeper

I've also started making the dashboard interactive.

For example, clicking Business opens my Business Blueprint.

That currently contains my mission, core projects, weekly rhythm, measurements and some basic operating principles.

The Finance and Health pillars work in a similar way.

This is where I think things could get particularly interesting as Peter OS develops.

The dashboard is the overview.

Underneath it are the systems that actually help me make decisions.

Eventually, I can imagine opening Peter OS in the morning and immediately being able to see:

Where am I going?

What am I working on?

What needs my attention?

Am I progressing financially?

How is my health?

What did I learn last week?

And what's the most important thing I should do today?

AI Is Becoming Part of the System

There's another aspect to this experiment that I'm increasingly interested in.

I'm not building Peter OS by disappearing for six months and trying to learn software development from scratch.

I'm building it with AI.

I'm describing what I want.

AI is helping me think through the structure.

We're challenging ideas.

We're changing things that don't make sense.

And now AI is helping me turn those conversations into something that actually works for me on my computer.

That changes what's possible for someone like me.

You don't necessarily have to know exactly how to build something before you start.

You need to understand the problem you're trying to solve, be willing to experiment, and keep improving what you create.

Version 0.1 Is Supposed to Be Incomplete

This is probably the biggest mindset shift for me.

I don't need Peter OS to be perfect.

I need it to be useful.

Version 0.1 gives me something I can actually use.

Now I can discover what I like.

What annoys me.

What's missing.

What I never use.

And what would genuinely make the system better.

Then I will build version 0.2.

And version 0.3.

That's very different from trying to design the perfect system before ever using it.

Where This Goes Next

This is now becoming a longer-term project for me.

I'm going to continue documenting the process here, including the successes, mistakes, changes of direction and probably a few ideas that turn out to be completely useless!

I'll also go deeper into each pillar, starting with the Business side and how I'm trying to connect OnlineStriver, content creation, Wealthy Affiliate and Peter OS rather than treating them as separate projects.

And somewhere down the road, there's another interesting question.

If I can build a personal operating system that genuinely helps me, could a version of the same idea help other people build their own?

I don't know the answer yet.

That's partly why I'm building it in public.

For now, though, Peter OS exists.

It's sitting on my laptop.

And version 0.1 is officially alive.

If you were building your own personal operating system, what would you want it to help you with first?
