The Battle Within
Too many times in the past have I started things and walked away from them. Too many times have I come to a crossroads and took the route marked easy...only to find that I've ended up further away from the goal I wanted to achieve than I ever was. I'm sure I'm not alone in this...or am I?
The amount of times I've battled with myself over the indecision I've generated inside of me. The yes, the no, the maybe, the not now, the not enough time, if only this, if only that.. even now my head refuses to let me stop battling with myself...
Well I've taken to just ignoring the voice. As we say in my part of the world 'I've thrown it a deaf 'un' It will just have to shown who is the boss. The boss is me. The guy who is going to do what he says he is going to do...
Now don't get me wrong. I'm not Mr Indecisive. I am not a guy with many discernable negative traits. To all and sundry I'm the 'go to' guy. The one with the 'answers' the one who is always there, Mr Dependable... I have opinions and I DO what it says on the tin... except
When it comes to me!
That may sound confusing but to me it totally makes so much sense...to that end of concentrating on WHAT I WANT FOR ME is why I'm following WA, I'm investing time, quality time, as well as money into ME. A part of me is still arguing away... that it won't work that it will meet the same end as other ventures and ideas...oh it's there reminding me, but all I have to do is head back here and achieve and that soon shuts up the inner voice.
The place I'm in now is a lot more 'happier' than a place I was in before and the place I'm heading towards is going to be a lot happier than I've known...
The Battle within isn't over but it's getting so much easier to ignore and easier to move forward than before...

It was through your post that I got to write this Jen. It's hard being 'selfish' to concentrate on you...most of my life I've battled for others got caught up in scenarios that I should have walked passed... but I didn't and to that end I've had to find 'me' again and as you have said elsewhere, find a 'purpose'... and I have... 'me'! So Glad that you have taken the decision to stay...no one is alone here are they? I just think it's all great! :-)

Oh don't think it is just you! I do not know how you feel about things of the Spirit, but there are two things God taught me to help me. The enemy doesn't want us to be happy or successful, so he will come at us with the distractions of life, or as you have said, attack our thought processes, including as you commented below, making us think we are being selfish. Yet Jesus reminded us we were to love our neighbor as ourselves. So often it is so much easier to focus on others and not even think we are deserving of loving ourselves. You have obviously been led down this pathway as you are finding yourself feeling happier, and as you ignore the taunts I am sure your focus will only grow stronger! :)
