StoryTelling In Articles
Is storytelling the most powerful tool of all?
I watched an interesting Ted talk yesterday about storytelling. The man gave an example of the marketer who bought 200 items from eBay at an average cost under 2 dollars.
He then sent out an email to 200 writers and asked them if they had an interest in writing a little story about the item he sent a picture of.
He took all the stories and reposted each item back on eBay and they sold for an average of 40 odd dollars each. Around 8000 dollars he made off of less than a 200 dollar investment. Because a story was added.
Pretty powerful.
Can we do that with our articles? Can we take a simple ‘fact’ we write about on our blogs like “WA is a great company” and add a story to it and see how that increases the value of that story? Try it. I'm going to.
It worked well for Steve Jobs. His keynote speeches were famous. He told stories for business.
What’s your story?

This is what I am trying to do with my Bootcamp site but I find myself slipping back into telling rather than sharing a story. Thanks for the reminder, great post.
i really like this post.
i agree storytelling is a known technique used by successful bloggers to captivate, and engage their site visitors.
who doesn't like a good read?
Thanks for sharing! And thanks for the reminder. Storytelling can be such a game-breaker. It's a great way to connect with your audience.
Best wishes,
Norman
That sounds great, I wish I was a more creative writer. I think I can tell a story but it has to be based on a real life experience, so I am only re-telling an event.
I would be great to read how you write a story about W.A.
I'll begin writing an article about it and post it on my blog soon. Thanks for your interest.
That is awesome, I hope this is allowed on WA. I will be watching for more blogs on this idea.

This is a great point. Most non-essential purchases have an emotional element involved, and I think stories are far better at invoking emotion than simple fact telling.
Yes, that is what I'm thinking and reading. I have a lot more I'm going to add to this soon. I'm just researching a little more.

I used to work for Disney for a period of time of my life and as expected the culture there is all about storytelling. The entire business of Disney is story telling and thats how they connect with people.
If people can relate to you then it just gives you that trust factor and that is more powerful than any tool.
Thanks, I bet you had some fun there.
