Persistence pays off

Over The last two weeks, I have seen many blogs dealing with the subject of Procrastination. There are very few people in this world, if any, who can say that they have never been affected, nor had anything taken away by procrastination.

Procrastination (definition)

The dictionary defines Procrastination as :-

    ·The act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention.

    ·The action of delaying or postponing something.

    ·To be slow or late about doing something that should be done;

    ·To delay doing something until a later time because you do not want to do it, because you are lazy, etc.

    ·To put off intentionally and habitually

    ·To put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done

Procrastination (possible effects)

Procrastination also has another more common definition – it is known as the thief of time. Procrastination not only steals your time – it will also over time if not dealt with:-

    ·Steal your talent and your treasure;

    ·Cause the loss of your integrity

    ·Destroy your good reputation;

    ·Cause your business to collapse;

    ·Damage your family relationships;

    ·Do potentially irreparable damage to both your mental and physical health; and

    ·Possibly cause you to lose your life.

Procrastination kills enthusiasm and opens the door for defeat.

This blog is not about Procrastination

But this blog is not about procrastination, I just need to lay the foundation – It’s about Persistence

Persistence (definition)

The dictionary defines Persistence as :-

    ·The quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people;

    ·The state of occurring or existing beyond the usual, expected, or normal time;

    ·The action or fact of persisting;

    ·The quality or state of being persistent; and

    ·Continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition

Persistence can be likened to the bite of a pitbull

Persistence can be likened to the bite of a pitbull. The Pitbull bite was measured at 235 pounds of pressure. It is the most highly recognized breed for jaw and bite strength. Once the pitbull locks down, you literally have to kill him to get him to let go.

What is Persistence

Persistence is

    ·Never giving up;

    ·Believing that the impossible is possible;

    ·Looking past your limitations to expand your potential;

    ·Turning a deaf ear to all the negative words you hear and resolutely pursuing your objectives;

    ·Not being dismayed by little, limited or no progress;

    ·Not being discouraged when obstacles (both necessary and unnecessary) get in your way; and

    ·Putting in the time, energy and effort required to achieve success;

Benefits of Persistence

Persistence breeds success;

Persistence breeds confidence;

Persistence improves competence;

Persistence emboldens commitment;

Persistence increases enthusiasm and destroys defeat.

I urge you to be Persistent – Never Give up – Never surrender to Procrastination.

How are you - long time no hear.

I'm fine, thanks, posted a blog yesterday announcing my return after a 5 day hiatus - my laptop caught a nasty virus and was in the shop all that time. Hate it when that happens, grrrrr.
