You Mean It's Really Over?

For the past 31 years I have been getting up early, waking sleepy heads so they can begin their day. It usually started out a little grumpy because no one in my family is an early bird but me. Then comes the Mom, where's this or that, I can't find my homework, does this look o.k.?

I really thaught I would be doing this forever. I can remember mornings praying they would hurry up and get a driver's license so that I could sleep in. But then again an earth quake could hit and they wouldn't hear the sirens so an alarm clock was worthless.

We always tried to get in bed at a decent hour so that mornings weren't so rough, but no matter how I tried the task was simply next to impossible. This is the curse of the night owl. Anything and everything is a reason to stay up later and later. I finally got to the point I told my girls I don't care if you go to bed at 5:30 a.m., when that clock of mine goes off at 6:00a.m. you are getting up and going to school.

My girls were great about that I guess because they knew if they missed school or their grades suffered because of not getting enough rest, well I wouldn't want to be you. So tired or not they dragged themselves out of bed because they didn't like hearing, big girl last night, big girl this morning.

Remembering The Days

Looking back on the days when my schedule was so tight i barely had a moment to myself, I really believed it was going to be the death of me. I had one child in one school who had to be their early to feed her pig. She was in F.F.A. and those days made me so glad I wasn't a farmer.

At her school alone I was their 3 to 4 times a day. Feed the pig, clean out his pen, walk the pig, take my daughter to the front and drop her off, go home pick up my other daughter drive the opposite direction, drop her off at school, come back to the house and pick up my husband so that we could go to work at our construction company.

The afternoons went very similar, get to the middle school pick up my daughter, go to the pig pen repeat morning process with the pig, leave their stop by the elementary and pick up my other daughter, drop them off at home then back to work to finish my work day, get off, get to the house clean up, make dinner and then back to the jr.high to finish up nightly duties before bed with the pig.

Back at the house, I had just enough time to do a load of laundry, wash dinner dishes straighten the house, take a shower and collapse in bed from exhaustion. I never had a hard time sleeping. You can bet 5 minutes on the pillow and I was out.

They All Made It

Through it all, it was my dream to make sure each child graduated. It was never a question but mandatory in our house. That was your job above everything. School was priority. Above friends, above plans, above anything and everything.

Thinking about this now and seeing how some of their friends didn't make it through, I am so grateful. All of my babies hard work paid off for them. That was my goal from the day they started kindergarten. They were going to shine, they were going to graduate.

A Job Well Done

I am so proud to be able to say, all of my children finished school the right way. They all graduated. My goal, yes but I wanted them to have that sense of accomplishment. They started something and saw it through 13 years till the final day.

As a mom, I say goodbye to these days with a tear in my eyes. Yes I'm proud but a chapter in our lives is closing. I will always cherish the days the mornings we had, and now our lives will be different. Not sure how, but they will be for sure. I wish those days had not gone by so fast now. But I'm excited to see where life takes them. I love them so, and girls.... you made your mamma proud!!!

Comments are always welcome, please leave them below and I will get back with you.

Thank you for taking time out of your day, to read about mine

As always, leaving you with love and light
