What is the difference if I start writing from "site content" then publish vs. logging in WP and start a "new post" from there?

I like WordPress a lot so I was skeptical about the site content interface at first but I ended up liking it for some things. Specifically, I like the image interface better than WordPress. If you want minimal steps, just writing straight in WordPress works best because it's all together.

For me, I'm a take what works person and I don't mind doing extra steps so this is my system: I do my first draft writing in a Google Doc or sometimes on Write or Die. That keeps me off of this site with its social temptations. Seeing a new notification while I am writing in site content is too distracting. My step 2 is paste to site content, add images, and do a brief edit. I like the site content image interface better than WordPress, even if I am using my own pictures. Then after I publish, I go edit in WordPress to adjust the category, SEO settings, and tags. I can absolutely see why doing all of that would be too many steps or too much effort.

I've tried using site content but always return to WP to create posts.

The toolbar on site content is limited. You can't change text color or add the "read more" (so just a clip appears on your main page) and you can't "undo" or "redo". I use those tools a lot.

If I'm mistaken and just don't know where to find those tools, would someone please let me know? I can't imagine why it would be difficult to add those tools to site content. I'd definitely use it.

You don't need to write your posts in Site Content if you don't want to. And writing them in WordPress definitely has a lot of advantages. It will help you to customize your content in any way you see fit.

I don't like Site Content, Gutenberg or the WP Classic Editor!

I've been using Thrive Themes for years and believe that their WP editor called Thrive Architect, beats anything else hands down.

The difference for me is...
If I do with site content, there will be double job which I end up editing again in wp editor.

So I just use wp editor. When I write and edit, it just the way it looks. No double job needed.

Hmm, you've got a point there too.... cuz sometimes when I publish the content, I have to do a little bit of editing with the headings and spacing...

Thanks!!

Thank you all for your input, Really appreciate it!

The other benefit of site content Pamela is that it optimizes your images before they are published to wordpress. Jim

Thanks Jim!

For some reason, at first I thought there's some kind of penalty or something.... (my bad) .... But, yeah, I like the site content for word count. It let's me know if I need more brainstorming or I'm done :)

I like site content because you can insert images from here for free. You can basically find any image for any niche here. Kyle wrote a post stating that the images are inserted into your post the best from site content. I would always use site content first before posting on your site. Sorry I couldn't find Kyle article about site content.
Hopefully that helps.

To me there are not many differences except that writing content from site content there is a template where is writing from WP there is not template. That is the only difference that I know of. I hope this helps you out.

I use the WP to do my content. I had forgotten about Site Content so I just add the subheadings in my blog posts and it works for me. So the best advice I can give you is to do what is best for you. I hope this helps you out.

It's totally up to you. I like to construct the blog in site content first so that I only need to fine tune it in WordPress. The other thing is you can keep tab of the amount of words you have written by using site content first. Being a lover of goal setting, this suits me as well. Jim
