New Year’s Resolutions: Why I think it is a Hoax
I am sure that there are many individuals out there who will strongly oppose this article or call me a crazy pessimist simply because I do not share a similar opinion with them on the topic of new year’s resolutions.
I do not believe in setting new year’s resolutions. Yes you read that right, I hate to sound like a party pooper when I write this, But it is true.
Now if you absolutely love making new year’s resolutions and they motivate you and work for you, I am not here to tell you to stop. I just want to clarify that.
Regardless of what anyone says, I think that new year’s resolutions is a Hoax and here are few reasons why:
People usually set unrealistic goals
I hear people making ridiculous claims all in the name of making new year’s resolutions. Claims from losing 10 pounds in 1 week to finding true love. The most recent one I heard was from a colleague who I went to college with, she told me that her new year’s resolution was to travel more. Keep in mind that this colleague owes money from her student loan and does not have a job. If she does end up traveling more, I do not know how she plans on financing her traveling expenses.
Some new year resolutions are vague
Last night, I was speaking to a friend of mine and he brought up a conversation about the new year’s resolutions. He was absolutely shocked when I told him that I do not partake in such nonsense.
We had a debate over the topic at the end of the conversation I asked him what his new year’s resolution was and he quickly replied “my new year’s resolution is to write neater on paper” Interesting isn’t it?
Most people wait for a new year to roll in before making a decision to better themselves
After talking to my friend last night, I was in deep thought about the conversation we just had. He was right, his handwriting had gotten a little sloppier over the years, but that was mostly because he had gotten lazier and did not put any effort in his writing.
Frankly speaking, I became baffled at the whole prospect of new year’s resolutions. I was baffled because I wanted to know why people, my friend included would wait until a new year came around to make the decision to better themselves. It was perplexing!
Why must we wait for a new year to roll around before setting goals and deciding what we can and can not do? Why do we need a new year’s resolution to improve ourselves?
How about we scrap the whole new year’s resolution thing all together and set strong and realistic goals all year round and be the best version of ourselves that we can ever be at all times.

Do whatever works for you. People have a different perspective. This is your view.
It is not only New Year but I am the kind if I think I would not do something, that would be the very first thing I will do.
Thank you for your comment. You are right on! Happy new year!
Wish you a brilliant 2019.
