Hi! My name is Pam Brown from West Central Georgia (USA). It seems that I have worked all my life and worn many different hats. Starting out in high school at 16 years old, I started working in retail sales at a drug store in my hometown. I went from there to getting married right after high school. I worked at a couple of factories, one that made furniture and the other one made hair supplies (Goody). Then I figured if I was going to get any kind of a better paying job, I should go to school for something. I attended a technical college in the area and took secretarial classes since we were moving to a (college town). My then husband was going to college and I needed a good job. It was a good decision and I landed a job at the university and that's where I stayed until he finished school and we moved back home. One of our two boys was born while we lived there.

I stayed home for a couple of years with the two boys we had by that time and eventually went back to work at a rehabilitation hospital in the area and helped with data entry in a temporary job at first. Then I transferred to Medical Records where I was a medical transcriptionist until transferring to another department as a medical secretary for one of the physicians. I retired from the hospital after 25 years. While I was working at the hospital, I also helped my parents at the family owned business part-time for several years until my father died and we sold the business.

Somewhere during this time, I got a divorce, was a single mother, then met someone else and after 8 years we got married. We'll be married 20 years on April 1st.

I went to school and got my real estate license many years ago and have done that off and on while working my full time job. Now I work in a real estate office, mainly to help with the computer work and marketing. The market around here has not fully recovered and it is very slow in the rural area where we live.

I have always been interested in working online at something, just didn't know what I wanted to do and couldn't find what I was looking for. I've tried a few things but nothing that panned out and a couple were just pure scams. I've also been a Mary Kay and an Avon beauty consultant but that was just not for me! I also have many hobbies and interests which include reading, gardening, all kinds of crafts (too many), photography, daydreaming (that is a hobby, isn't it?), and of course, there's family, especially our six grandchildren.

I know that I am interested in helping people in some way and I would love to make a few extra dollars along the way if possible. I'm pretty happy that I found Wealthy Affiliates because it seems to just feel right to me. This place has an enormous amount of educational opportunities but the most important thing to me is that there are so many people who really seem to care and want to help others when they can. There are people from all over the world here and just having that opportunity to get to know many of them is overwhelming to me.

Pam, I think you can do it ! I am caught between two worlds. # Aim for the stars and maybe you hit the moon. or. # Be realistic and appreciate anything you get.

I feel maybe my expectations are too high ? Good luck to you, and hope you achieve your goal.

Thanks, Carson. I am now on my 8th lesson. The videos in the lessons are great. I learn better by vision in seeing it done rather than by just reading. Of course, then the reading emphasizes what you've seen in the video.

If you can help people, you can create a successful business doing so. This goes for absolutely any niche Pam.

Over the years I have personally been involved in many niches and the same principles held true. If you help someone, you build trust and once you have trust, you can generate revenue through your promotions. Not until then.

That is what you are going to learn all about here at WA and the proper strategies to create a business online. I look forward to working with you and if you need a hand with anything moving forward, simply drop me a reply here and I will give you a hand.

PS. I hope you have an awesome weekend ahead!

Thank you. I am on the lesson about Niches now. I have so many interests, it will be hard to narrow it down but I'll work on it. I am looking forward to learning as much as I possibly can. Since the weather is still cold, I have plenty of time to spend on reading and learning right now.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

And remember, it only takes one niche to be very successful online Pam. You are much better off focusing on something specific than to try to be a jack of all trades.

Hi Kyle, After I wrote that message about niches, I actually did decide on one and went ahead and did my website. My website is "Weight Loss for Women Over 50". I went on the chat line and asked what everybody thought about it and got some great replies. I actually lost 45 lbs. between June and December of last year and I feel like I can relate to what people are going through when trying to do that. What do you think?

Don't tie it to a specific age, I never tie it to a demographic like this. Weight loss for women would be more than fine for your niche Pam, I would stick with that.

Congrats on your weight loss as well, that is awesome!

Hi Kyle, I've been wanting to ask you this but wasn't able to for a couple of days. But I did go back and change my web site name to just "Weight Loss For Women" but the URL will stay the way I first put it with the "Over 50" at the end, right? Is there not any way to change that, or should I just start another web page? If you could check my web page out and let me know if I've done everything correctly, I would appreciate it! weightlossforwomenover50.siterubix.com. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

Yeah, you can't change your URL and this is OK. When you do buy a domain (if you do decide to go that route), you will just want to buy a domain that is not "age" specific. Completely fine though here and nice work on your progress thus far with your website Pam.
