The joys of editing
There is a real need for good editing software. I know we all use some version to check everything we write, or at least we should. I also know that there is a real need for a proofreading of our content after the editor software.
I am sure that I am not the only one who has noticed that from time to time the software we are using suggests a spelling that is not correct. It is right enough of the time most people select the correction and move on.
Check the checker.
I have started to do this with everything from emails to articles to the short stories I write. Why is this important? If I, as the reader of your content struggle with what you have written then I am less likely to trust what you have to say. I have read too many pages with well-meaning and thought out ideas only to find spelling mistakes, grammar issues, and even missing words altogether.
Not me, you may be thinking. I am willing to bet yes, you too. I am not the grammar police or the spelling miser you may be calling me. I am simply suggesting that for as good as the software is, it is only as good as the person running it.
Take a minute or two after you run the "checker" to really read through the content. Make sure you have everything as you wish it to be. For me, it could be the difference in just visiting and converting.

I totally agree! I proof-read twice before posting any new articles, and that is on top of the spellcheck.
I have done it several time through-out the writing as well, on big posts. Its amazing how often the mistakes occur.
I am sure I do as well. It happens to us all, I just hope that some people will read this and do a double take on their work. A reminder to be vigilant kind of thing.

Corey, I'm probably the wrong one to comment (overbearing father who was a newspaper editor by trade) but that's my opinion, too. Spelling and/or grammar errors will cause me to leave a site quicker than taking a breath.
Thanks for reminding the rest of them! All of the not-me's. And especially for validating correcting the corrections! That's so irritating when the programs know less than I do!
Tim
Most of the correction programs I have used ask me to make change that are unnecessary. I know they mean well but, for goodness sakes I did not think the english language was that difficult.
