Climate Change

The concept of climate change is controversial.

Both sides of the climate change debate, however, agree that Earth's climate has changed throughout its history. The difference in interpretation is that people who believe in climate change state that the temperature is changing at a speed not previously seen. The opponents of climate change feel that the temperature being recorded now is normal, and is nothing to be alarmed about.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has stated that the global seas have risen 8 inches in the past century. The rate of the rise in sea level is double in the past two decades over what it was in the last century.

The main reason for the climate change is the human. There has been a steady increase in the carbon dioxide levels since the last century due to industrialization byproducts.

The increased carbon dioxide causes elevated heat which is then absorbed by our oceans. This has led to decreasing ice sheets, which in turn, has led to the rise in sea level. The increased heat has also led to decreasing Arctic ice and melting glaciers compounding the problem of the rising sea level.

The increased increased heat from the elevated carbon dioxide levels has also led to extreme weather patterns which has led to drought in some parts of the world and flooding in others.

The Paris Agreement is not perfect, but it is an attempt to address climate change. Hopefully, the world's nations will put their politics aside and cooperate on this pressing issue.

Good ppst, and definately a serious topic. Hopefully one that gets more attention before its too late.

Thanks Pablo

Agreed. Thank you for your input Mark. Always appreciated.

If every human works to minimize their impact, that is a big difference - the good news is that there is momentum from businesses globally for alternate and more earth friendly power sources, efficiency improvements and travel.

Clean fuel is the way to go in my opinion. Thank you for your viewpoint.

I think it makes good business sense to develop new clean energy sources. This benefits the economy with new jobs and new technology and benefits the environment as well as our children's legacy.

Yes, I agree. It's good for business and benefits humanity

good post

Thank you Abdul. And thank you for reading

this is well documented and all world leaders need to take part in the Paris agreement and Trump pulling out of the Paris agreement doesn't negate, even if he doesn't want to believe it's true

I agree. Thank you for your time

I will throw fuel on this fire.

It does not matter which side of the argument is correct. We have a responsibility to be good stewards of the planet given to us by our Creator.

John 3:16 - For "God so loved the world" that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Great belief. I appreciate your comment. Thank you

Pablo, you are opening a can of worms. I know scientists and professors on both sides of the debate. They both can make point to things happening in the world which supports each side of the argument.

As you said there has been measurable increases in temperature and sea levels over the last 20 years, at the same time the opposite side points out the ice thickness is increasing at the poles. For me, it leaves me with the perception that neither side has enough data to know exactly whats going on.

My gripe, and I am probably considered a climate change denier because of this. Is that the politicians who pushed through the legislation here in Australia (and possibly elsewhere around the world) were more interested in social change than they were in climate change.

We had a carbon tax introduced and instead of using the money raised to address climate change or other environmental issues, it was paid out as rebates to people affected by rising costs due to the carbon tax......

I don't know the answer, but if there is an issue we should be addressing that issue. Not using it as a smoke screen to do something else.

I can relate to your view. Unfortunately, our politicians are not always truthful. Thank you for reading and commenting

It is sad how accurate you are Pablo.

Scientist made a clear definition on climate change. I could not remember if the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change or from somewhere else that climate change is the result of human activity and the natural processes occurring is climate variable.

So it is understood that climate variable is being aggravated by climate change that brings global warming and other changes unfavorable to all living organisms.

Thank you for your view Accad. Much appreciated as always

Is segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes being done in your community?

Yes, it has for some time

You are being brave talking about such a controversial subject, Pablo! :)

Thank you Carol. Lol. I thought I would bring up the issue and take an informal poll of where the community members stand on this issue.

I personally find more compelling evidence on the side of climate change than the "it's normal and natural!" side, but I also recognise that, given that I am not a scientist, I may be wrong and am subject to believing false or misleading information, just like anybody else, however, I have never, ever received an answer from the deniers on why they shouldn't attempt to clean up the environment.

Even if you believe that the changing environment is perfectly natural, why wouldn't you switch to cleaner energy? Why wouldn't you make an effort to preserve the environment? They may occasionally cite the expense of such, but that strikes me as disingenuous. There is plenty of evidence that clean energy is not only feasible financially, but also profitable.

When I was a kid, we could be out on a hot day and if we came across a body of water, we could just strip down and jump in. Today, you'd have to assume that the water would make you sick, or that you'd step on glass on even a needle... We can-- and must-- do something to clean up after ourselves.

Thank you for your comment Craig. I am not a scientist either, but I am concerned when I look at a picture of a glacier that is getting smaller over time. Unfortunately, this issue has become a political football.

Not True.. Global warming is a scam a hoax and this video will prove it. 31,000 +_ scientists signed a petition. 9000 of these scientists carry PHDs.

As for the Paris accord.. that too was a move to stop the GDP growth of the USA while doing nothing to stop China from building industrial plants until 2030. It stops mining for coal in the USA while allowing India to double their production.

Thank you for your input Billy. Like I said, the issue is controversial. I will, however, look at your links. Have a good one

It is good that you have an open mind... I took will check out any links provided to me.. I have found that much of what I believed was lies when I was younger, turned out to be true. Same thing about a cure for cancer still not here. Did you know that the motors in Hitler's war machines were built in America by Ford? How' bout Coca cola being a being seller in Germany during the war. The Rothchild family supporting both sides of a war just to make money.. Don't believe CNN it was created by the CIA as a propaganda machine for the NWO (New World Order)... More recently that Trump has already arrested 3000 pedophiles in our Government. Crazy huh... It's all on the internet, never to be found in the main stream media. It's a crazy world bro.. and keeping an open mind will get you through it.

I didn't know those facts about ford etc. I will definitely look them up. I know there is much more to certain things that meet the eye. Again, I appreciate your comments

I found the bit on Fords motors in Nazi vehicles... and I have to say I don't it's Henry Fords bad because his Ford factory in Germany was taken over by the Natzis so you really can't blame him.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Ford_Motor_Company#Nazi_collaboration

Thank you for all the info Billy. I really do appreciate it. This is the true spirit of WA. Exchanging ideas, modifying concepts and tha ability to be forthright. Again, thank you
