Automated Future?
We get this highly regarded magazine (that no one is allowed to speak the name of. You may know which one I'm talking about; if not, I can't tell you what it is, sorry) that goes over important consumer information. The latest issue discussed the process of automation in business.
Walmart has an experimental system in 200 of it's super stores. Customer's download an app, scan items, and bag as they shop. When they're ready to leave they wirelessly transfer the items from the phone to a self-checkout. Done.
Applebee's and Chili's have tableside computers where customer's can place their orders and pay the bill without needing to speak with a waiter.
Self-service seems to be the way of the future, but what does that mean for workers? I wonder if humans will be almost totally phased out and what our options will be if that happens. I could see more people moving into Internet based work, like YouTube and running websites. People might become primarily focused on providing entertainment value to one another (see Seananners on YouTube or Gassymexican, and PewDie Pie of course. Funny guys, making money sharing their video game moments online. Sounds crazy, but it's happening! The Shaytards are considered the "First Family" of YouTube).
I think I'm going to try and crack into YouTube next, but that is a tough gig. You need a thick skin and a hard head to be able to handle what the anonymous trolls of the internet dish out!

its a give and take kind of thing. Designing, manufacturing, buying and selling, installing/implementing, maintaining and servicing as well as updating that computer equipment and technology all create jobs as well. granted usually not as many when a company of a few hundred to 1000 workers that deal with the technology are kept working, when thousands of other laborers are left without that work.
