Another "About me" page
Hello everyone.
I have decided to make my blog about ice cream recipes. So I've had to rewrite my "About me" page and I'd love to get some input. I put a little twist on why I decided it was ice cream I wanted to write about, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to humanize a kitchen appliance. Any thoughts?
Here's the link to my about me page:

Hi, Tanya, It is really a matter of preference as to what you put on your about and home pages. For me I took my about page and made it more about me personally. Where I live, my occupation, etc. My home page I wrote about my goals for the site. I think that the section you have:
So now I wondered where to start. A couple of years ago I bought an ice cream machine for Jens, but he didn’t use it for long and now it just sits in the back of a cupboard collecting dust. I’m sure it feels lonely in there, so I’ve decided to free it from it’s solitude, give it a good clean and put it on the kitchen table where it can get a bit of sunshine and socialize with the blender and the electric kettle, when not being used for making mouthwatering treats.
In my family we have a great love of ice cream. So nothing could be more natural than to start exploring the world of home made ice cream. There are so many wonderful flavours to try and not just the ice cream, but all the different kinds of sprinkle and sauces.
Would be great for your home page. I personally think that us very good content for a home page. However, It is your page and do what you feel comfortable with. Just my thoughts as I have said before.

I think I'll leave it on the about me page and have newly added recipes on the home page. I think... Maybe, lol. To be honest I haven't gotten round yet to thinking about the home page. Right now I'm waiting for my washer to finish washing, so I can get the ice cream maker going and finish my first recipe testing: Vanilla Ice Cream =)
I think I'd set up your front page as a blog and have each recipe as a separate post with room for comments under each. I did it with my Grammar site here: http://crimsonleaf.org.uk It allows anyone following a recipe to open a whole post devoted to it and perhaps print it off without faffing about. Explain what your site is about in a post too, and make it a sticky. Again, this can be seen on the site I mentioned.
Hi Paul
Thank you for the feedback. What you're proposing to do is what I had thought of doing. I just hadn't gotten around to the details yet. I'm using a recipe template which has the "built-in" option of printing out the recipe. But I still think that the best idea is to do like you said.
Hi, Tanya, you have a very nice looking page. I also enjoyed your writing. I think that you have info on the page you might want on your home page. Make sure you do not box yourself in. For example is your whole site going to be about icecream. If not you might want to separate your about page and your icecream page. You are doing good work--Just thinking out loud here. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the kinds words. My whole site is going to be about ice cream. Mostly recipes, but I'm thinking about adding reviews of ice cream machines, ice cream specific cook books etc once I get a grib on things.
What info specifically did you have in mind that I might want on my home page? I assume by home page you mean the first page people come to when arriving at my site?
Hi, Tanja, I think from reading this post that you have an interesting writing ability. Use whatever you can that has good taste ( a little Pun) to keep the interest of your audience. If you have even the beginnings of a page let us know where we can see it and you will bet a lot more comments. If I can help let me know. Dan
Thank you for your input. Of course you're right that having the actual page to look at will give a much better impression of the whole. So I've switched the text for the link. I just hadn't published it before I wrote this blog.
I think your idea of using humor more to keep the interest is very good. I'll go back to the think box and see if I can put it in somewhere.
Thank you!
