And it All Melts Together
But not before some blood, sweat, and almost tears!
I'd been thinking for awhile on writing an Ebook and then it was suggested by a fellow member. So I thought , "Hey, why not?"
NOW I KNOW!!
Actually the writing of the book was not the hard part at all.
Just try and publish that puppy in the same format it was written! I truly found Kindle crazy hard to work with. I first tried switching to Kindle Create and editing it there. That all seemed great although time consuming. Uploaded it and did a preview.....no where near in the right format!
So then I started researching acceptable formats. Apparently the doc or docx format was the most common. So why didn't my original file work.
MORE RESEARCH!
Turns out it's all about the page breaks! Well not entirely, but pretty close.
Back to the drawing board in the original file and insert all the page breaks. Upload again!
Well now we're getting somewhere but the pages and pics still aren't right.
Finally ended up going through the original file page by page while comparing to the preview file, and counting lines. Re-inserting page breaks before 30 lines and deleting others.
SO HOW MANY LINES DOES A PICTURE TAKE??
Had to do a couple of rounds of editing that way and finally arrived at something I could accept. I wonder if I'll remember all this by the time I attempt it again?!
But within 72 hours I will be published! Another notch of journey complete! Frustrated but very excited!
Has anyone else travelled this path with less adversity?
